Is there anything I can do here? Internet connectivity related

How long do you want to ignore this user?
long story short, I'm stuck in a pretty old condo for at least a few more months and after two in home visits by Spectrum technicians, the router simply cannot make a connection to the source of the internet. The last guys advice to me was, "move". Ha.

The US/DS light is always blinking on the front of the router if it won't connect. At this point I'm fed up with the intermittent service that in reality is more like no service at all.

So I'm reaching the point where I'm just going to cancel my internet service entirely. No point in paying for this **** if it doesn't work.

So, what are my potential options here, if any, besides powering my devices like my tablet and Xbox One off of my iphones personal hot spot?

Thanks. Pretty frustrating. Good news is it's just me here, so I'm not powering numerous peoples stuff.

Have the Spectrum techs confirmed that the coax between the router and their service entry is live/functioning? If not, that maybe on the landlord to fix.

Also, make sure Spectrum is sending you company techs, not third parties. See if they can escalate to a higher level of support.

I think so. Admittedly I'm quite naive in this stuff. Basically the way the guy explained it to me was that the only way they could actually "fix" would require him having to run a wire or something into an adjacent unit. I suppose I could ask the landlord about it but don't feel confident about them obliging. The guy told me outside of that moving was the only solution haha ...

FWIW, on my router is shows that the WiFi connections are live. Just the online light is off and VP/DS or whatever keeps blinking.

When he came last week he moved the router from my living room to my bedroom on a different wall jack. It worked most of this week but is down now again.

And these were legitimate Spectrum techs as far as I could tell.

Just had almost the same problem. See my post about Slow Internet on this forum. First guy Spectrum guy comes out to replace and give me a new modem, which he does. Checks some stuff and leaves. The internet continued to deteriorate all day until nothing. FINALLY get a real person on the phone in Tech Support at Spectrum, the check my modem and tell me there is significant packet loss and that is my problem.

The only good part of this was that could not watch the Ads loose BIG to Ole Piss cuz could not get on my Roku.

Fast forward to this morning, REAL Tech comes out, plugs in and goes Yes Sir you are in bad shape connection wise. Starts at my box outside and traces the problem from there to the connection on the side of the house, into the attic, down the wall and finds that an amp in a media box is bad. Jumpers around that amp and I am in Tall Cotton. Internet works like NEVER before.

Ya got get to Tech Support, have them test your modem from their end and see what you are getting. Then have them send a REAL Spectrum tech to fix problem.

Major PIA but it got fixed!

Can your neighbors get a signal? For a few months it might be worth just splitting the cost to connect to their WiFi.

If the condo is as old as you're implying it's likely that the cable running through the walls is RG59 and you really should use RG6 for internet connection. It would be up to your landlord to cover the cost of cable replacement in the building. The cable company will only cover up until the cables enter the building. Maybe work out a deal with the landlord to reduce rent for a few months to cover the cost of replacing cables\splitters if needed?
