We just had an outside patio/deck built, which is covered, with ceiling fans, etc. I ran coax for cable through the ceiling as well as outlets in the ceiling with the plan to hang new TV from the ceiling for outdoor use. I think given the space, the TV should be in the 36-42" range.

I have heard folks say don't spend the extra on an "outdoor" TV but rather but a regular one for a couple hundred and when it fails, get a new one.

Recommendations on a TV?

Also - I would prefer to not have to get a new cable box. We are on Spectrum. I was told by the spectrum guy to save your money and get a smart TV that is compat with the Spectrum app and watch TV that way.

Also Also - how can I drive a bluetooth speaker from this TV without a whole receiver hookup - aren't there TVs that drive wireless/bluetooth speakers?

I would echo the feedback you've received about not needing an "outdoor" tv. As long as it's out of the elements, buy a regular one and replace it in a few years if need be.

When I had an outdoor setup, I went with a 39" Samsung 1080p, no frills tv. No 3D, no apps, only 2 HDMI connections...pretty basic but was only ~$300 and has good picture quality. Attached a Vizio soundbar & Fire TV for streaming content (including music) and never had issues.

A cheap Visio, Hisense, Element, Insignia...just something cheap. I buy whatever the house brand is at Walmart, Target, or Best Buy when my current one craps out.

If you're a cord cutter, maybe get a TCL Roku tv. They're good all-around units and priced really well. Lots have TCLs as their indoor primary.

Cheap. TCL has been great for me. The built in Roku interface is slow compared to the external versions so I'd buy the non-smart version and add a Roku stock.

what I want to do is be able to watch TV inside - say an Aggie game, which is driven by Spectrum cable. I'd like for the game to be on the outside TV too, but not be on any delay like I have seen sometimes - that's annoying. I'm just not sure without another cable box how to make this happen.

Cut the cord. Buy a cheap box. Enjoy!

It will be on a delay outside, unless both are on cable or both are streaming.

Has anyone found any antiglare add on screens to help outdoors with these cheaper TVs?
Or any other solutions for outdoor glare?

Good question. Many of the less expensive TVs don't have a matte screen and they have quite the glare. Mine is pretty bad but I just accept it.

Interested to know if there are any realistic and affordable options.

1: Find the brightest TV for Real Scene SDR that is in your price range here.
https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/picture-quality/peak-brightness

2: Try to get it from Costco and get the extended warranty from them (even if purchased elsewhere).

3: Get a cover for it, and keep it wrapped when not using it.

That's my normal advice for outdoor TV's, and has worked well for everyone I have given it to.

Maybe split your signal of your living room tv with this:

Then wirelessly transmit the signal with this:

We did this for a kitchen TV and it works great for mirroring whatever is on your living room tv

I have a cheap nonsmart samsung 32in with a fire stick that's been outside for 2+ years with a cover from Amazon. It's been great. Might get a 42 next time. Built in roku would be nice. I have sharp like that.

I may try the nushield DayVue on my 13" laptop for a test for $30.

I've got a 4K 50" Roku tv outside. Been outside for a year and no problems. I stream through the xfinity app.

Hasn't LED technology really cut down on glare related issues? I'm gonna get the 55" TCL for $380 and wrap it with one of the outdoor TV covers from amazon for $30

My understanding is that the key for a good outdoor LED TV would be the ability to crank up the brightness (to offset the glare) while maintaining good contrast to preserve a good picture.

That's not technologically simple and why matte screens are instead used to cut down on glare.

it's noted in the images for

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071VCK1FG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

that the delay time is about half a second...do you find this to be true?

I have/had a TCL on my back patio and it has been nails. Although I didn't put the cover on it last night and a phantom storm came through last night. Covered it at 230 this morning and dried it off. Will let it dry out over the week before I fire it up, hope it made it through.

I got a $200 in my hunting cabin that sees 115 regularly and another one in my garage at home next to the garage door.

If they both make it 2 years i feel i got my money worth. The cabin one is at about a year and the garage one is at 4 years, both going fairly strong

I'm at six years with my TCL from Amazon. Bought a cheap cover that fits well. Love it.

Bought a cheap 40" and built a simple table to set it on. It's not heavy, so I take it inside when I feel the need because of weather. It will become a third TV for my shop on Saturdays during CFB season.

I ran ethernet cable with hdmi plugs from my living room to back porch for this very reason. Whatever is on in the living room is playing real time on the tv on the patio. Did not get a cable box because I have been to friends houses where you hear everybody cheer inside before you see the touchdown outside. Also, saves however much a month I would be getting charged for the extra box I don't need.

I have a 42 inch out back thats the best buy own brand, $3-400 insignia I think. Had it for 5 years uncovered, no problems. Porch is covered where the tv is mounted though. It's been sprayed with water many times while cleaning the back porch. Also, had some frogs living behind the tv as well. Still ticking.

No problems with glare on my porch, mounted it high. For tailgating glare we use canopies and wall tarps and it helps. I have heard the curved tv's really help with the glare. Will probably buy one of those when our current one gives up. They are pretty cheap now. If your back porch setup catch's a ton of light, I would look at putting up some windsails like at the corner. Or you can buy those huge bamboo looking blinds to block the sun for cheap.

We have a screened in porch, and have a 43" Insignia outside, no cover, works just fine. Use ATT and have no problems. Going to get a soundbar this weekend b/c when we are outside, gets kinda rowdy during football season. Actually trying to convince the Mrs. to let me install another TV out there and have multiple games on at the same time.

Bought cheap tv (32" for $150) 3 years ago and still works fine. I use a roku express stick for YTTV. I use a cheap grill cover to cover the tv.
