So I've had an old 27" Sony Trinitron collecting dust in a back closet for a while. Other than recycling, I've seen that these are becoming hot again for old school gaming consoles. Anyone know where I could offload it in the Houston area? Otherwise it's hitting the recycle center by the end of the week!

Post it in the game section of OfferUp for $30 for retro crowd. It'll go.

I donated mine to Goodwill. They said that CRTs go like hot cakes still.

This.

Or put it on your curb with a free sign. It will be gone by morning if you're in Houston

How long ago was this. They told us they haven't accepted CRT TVs for some time. I'd love to get rid of my old 32"

Yeah, we tried to donate an old 32" CRT to Goodwill a few months back and they wouldn't take it.

This was probably 2 years ago. I'm surprised if they did stop taking them based on what the employee told me at the time.

Check with your local dump. Also, some cities will have a day to drop off old electronic equipment for free.

If the options to offload for free don't work out and you are in the Houston area, try Technocycle. Cost $0.35 / lb to offload a CRT.

Technocycle

Most other electronic items are collected for free.

I know the owner over at Technocycle through business. Great guy. I'll second that.

Another option is just free on CL, OfferUp, etc. It'll be gone fast. Not a bad garage TV.
