Anyone know of a place to get windows for less than the standard $100? I'm not a student anymore, but loved that you could get it for like $20.

If anyone is willing to get a student copy through the university (if they still do that) I'll pay the expenses plus a fee.

Someone on here was saying they buy all of their keys off of ebay. I've never done it but sounds like it might work.

I got a Win10 Pro key off of ebay a few weeks ago for $5 and it worked. I figured I'd take a chance and it worked out.

I bought a Windows 10 Pro key for $10 the other day and it worked perfectly. I chose the $10 version, because the cheaper ones were OEM keys, that may not have played nice with my desire to upgrade an already installed Windows 10 home.

Worked perfectly.

This is the exact one I purchased:

Sounds like a deal. I have windows installed but I'm using the license from an old computer that's no longer in service. When I sell it, I'll want a clean copy

Out of pure curiosity, how are they doing this? Are these legit keys? Or is it more of a "Hey, it works so i'm not going to ask any questions or think about it too much..." kind of thing?

I have no idea, but you download windows directly from Microsoft and it is activated via Microsoft servers, so not sure how it could be illegitimate.

Sometimes they're licenses that aren't meant to be resold, like bulk licenses. It doesn't happen often, but they've been invalidated before.

I just budget the $100 to buy a clean license when I build a computer. It's not that much in the grand scheme of things and I don't have to worry about it.

have bought windows and office keys from SCDKEY before with no issues. They were volume license keys and I suspect the EULA said not for resale, but they work $12 win 10 pro and $26 office pro plus. Coupon codes on techbargains for them at times for a few bucks off

If you have a current license there was a roundabout way to still upgrade for free. Goes through the windows accessibility program and you use your old win 7 or 8 key in the Microsoft system so it's a real key you end up with.

This is the second time I've come to this thread wanting actual windows. My home was built in the late 80s and singled pane glass.

I'm a builder, windows are ridiculously expensive if you get anything that's worth a damn. Find a manufacturer in your area and contact their sales department. The salesperson should be willing to come out and take the measurements for themselves. Triple check their measurements and go from there. Just windows are fairly easy to install with the sheetrock removed if you're going back in the same opening. Sliding glass doors are a little more difficult, but being that I build almost exclusively on a lake, we use sliding glass doors across the back of houses to give the best views and ease of access.
