For those who don't know about it. Realistic medieval RPG...no magic, etc.

Looks good, but performance has been an issue on PC so far, according to reviews.

So most people have to play as a dirt farmer that gets drafted into disposable infantry units?

I backed this on kickstarter a century ago. I think I first heard about it from a post here on the Nerdery. My copy will be on PC. I probably won't be able to play it until summer due to school.

Blacksmiths son, but then yes, disposable front line infantry at the beginning.

Was a kickstarter backer. Looks like everything I wanted. A lot of the negative reviews seem to be by people the game was never intended for in the first place. It's gotten a lot of mainstream gaming attention lately, but keep in mind this was designed for a specific niche.

So the combat system is going to take some getting used to. Without spoiling too much, I had to confront someone who owed my dad money and when he refused to pay I could either do a speech roll (only had 1 point) or threaten him (stat was 3). The threaten roll failed and I had to get into a fist fight. It seemed to take entirely too long with the amount of punishment I was taking and giving. I think no matter what I would've lost because after that is a lock picking mission to get the items he refused to pay my father for.

Still, a very different take on this genre.

So that specific instance is supposed to be difficult early on to show you how the combat works as if you were unprepared.

I'm an unabashed apologist for this game. It's my favorite time period and the realism portrayed is outstanding.

Looks good. I'll put it on my PS4 wishlist and pick it up once it is on sale and debugged. Really enjoyed Deus Ex at the moment.

Played a couple of hours last night and I like it. Although lockpicking suuuuuuuuucks...at least on console. Apparently I am not alone since the devs said they are going to make it easier in a future update. I have yet to successfully open a very easy lock and because of that, I am pretty much stuck and will have to start over.
If you're referring to the first quest from the miller, there is another way you can accomplish it. I don't want to spoil it for anyone on here though.

Yea, I'm a few hours into the game and past the first group of quests and have yet to try lockpicking.

Probably not a spoiler but just in case...

I am trying to escape the castle and have to break into a chest to get an item so I can leave.

I have 7 bucks left after breaking off six lockpicks and they run 18 bucks a piece at the vendor.

Here's how I managed that part without the picks:

I just jumped off the drawbridge and ran to Skalitz. You can do this with or without stealing the horse. If you sneak, you can jump off while sneaking, and the guard won't see you

Favorite mission so far: Drinking with the parish priest of Uzhitz and giving mass while still drunk the next morning. Lots of fun.

Worst Mission: Eventual boss fight with the bandit that kicked your ass early on in the game. He killed me so many damn times in that tower. I eventually took out my bow and nailed him in the head for an instant kill rather than dealing with the sword-fight. The whole battle was pretty bad-ass though, although it took me a while to figure out the easy way to deal with the damn archers on the staircase.

I picked up the game after reading on here, and last night i started over again so I could get the lockpicks to help a little in the early game. Well when i went to fight the drunk, i also won, so i will have to replay again so i can get the picks.

I don't mind spoilers, and like to have an idea of early choices, so yesterday i was reading an article of early activities not to miss on from IGN. that started my second restart of the game.

I finished the game I loved the combat and for the most part the story was good just felt too rushed at the end. Also the ending of the game is baiting either for a Sequel or DLC.

I broke all my picks in the intro cuz I suck at lockpicking. Can I get more or am I SOL?

You may be able to buy some from a vendor in town, but I could be wrong. I don't remember.

Getting used to combat. Early mission where you have to rescue Capon. Those two bandits keep whipping my ass.

Still getting used to combat myself.

Are there tips on better better with the sword. Im okay with the bow...but man...going hand to hand, I often get wrecked.

Also, is there a good place to practice? Its a little irritating that even sparring with that Captain can kill you.
