I had a Sony Gold set but I am...a little tough on equipment. Walmart has them for $75 but after researching other brands are way too many options.

Any recommendations? I am looking for wireless only. I hate wires.

I think anything bluetooth will work with PS4. I've hooked up wireless apple airbuds to it before.

I think the only PS4 designed headsets that are completely wireless are the PS4 Gold and Platinum headsets. If you are tougher on them, maybe try the Platinum? It's $122 on Amazon but has a metal headband instead of the plastic.

Also, I think they made some small changes to the Gold in 2017 so if your Gold was from 2016, they are apparently more durable now.

Pricey but I love it!

I have two sets of sony golds. Both broke on the plastic headset part. I googled it and used the superglue/baking soda hack. Boom, fixed two years ago and both are going strong.

I do like my older A50's, but the battery life on them is going to **** now. Need to send them in to get replaced.

The bluetooth connectivity on the PS4 doesn't support headsets. Not sure how you managed to get the Airpods connected, but that is not native functionality. Even the Playstation branded headsets use a dongle.

I was going to call BS on this claim but didn't want to dissuade input.

I get about 4-5 hours with my A50s. I have a long enough micro usb cable to keep them plugged in while I'm at my PC too.

I actually them from someone here off of Texags years ago. They work like a dream.

I have some version of Turtle Beach that is wireless. Whatever you buy...make sure you don't have to plug in the headset to the controller for voice chat.

I had an old set that did that, and that got real annoying fast.

Yeah mine has a flip down mic that turns off when you flip it up. Also has little dials on the headset to adjust speaker & mic volumes.

Mine last less than two hours on a charge now. I'm switching over to using a some much nicer headphones (and headphone amp) along with a ModMic for my PC, so that's not as much of an issue anymore.

Not sure what I'm going to do when I'm playing console games since they die within seconds of the first warning beep now. I tried using my backup HyperX Cloud headphones plugged into the controller and that wasn't terrible, but the cord was still annoying. I really do like the A50's, just wish the battery life was remotely close to what it was when I bought them four years ago.

I've always had a dongle on my ps4, so I overlooked mentioning that, but there are plenty of guides on hooking up bluetooth headsets to the ps4 (via dongle, opps).

I have the Gold's for my PS4 and I haven't had any issues with them.

Recently bought the Astro A10's for my Xbox One and I love them. They have the same speakers as the A40's and (I think) A50's. I wish they were wireless but I didn't want to spend $200-300 for just a headset. It's nice because they can be used on anything that has a 3.5mm head jack.

Man, I just role with the headphone jack on the controller. Played a game the other day using some noise cancelling on-the-ear phones and it was awesome.

Yeah, the audio out of the controlle headphone jack is surprisingly good. Just don't like dealing with a cord I'd i can help it.
