How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm trying PS Vue for the 5 day free trial. I have a few questions that I"m sure yall know the answer to.

- How do I view the content as a regular guide that I'm accustomed to seeing on DirecTV? I've seen people viewing content this way on YouTube videos. I'm not a fan of the big channel logos I'd prefer seeing what's coming on next.

- How do you access your DVR?

- How do you record content to your DVR?

- As soon as I got to work I tried to launch the PS Vue app and I got "Mobile Restricted" because I'm outside of my home network. So are you unable to watch shows outside of your home?

  • Regular guide is either through a PS Console or Amazon Fire stick. I have a Roku and it's that tiled view, which I dislike as well.
  • DVR is cloud based. So you find your show - it will give you an option to "Add Show" or "Add to My Shows" Then, you'll have a menu dedicated to all your shows that you've added to DVR. It's unlimited storage from what I've read - and they stay on the DVR for 30 days
  • PS Vue App: try launching it at home FIRST and connecting to your home network. I've seen instances where everything is mobile restricted if you don't first connect to your home wi-fi

Overall I am very happy with PSvue, but they've gotta fix the roku app. The tiles are terrible.

From what I've read, the tiles thing is a Roku thing and Roku doesn't plan on changing it. So, I guess Roku users are SOL when it comes to a guide.

I have heard the same. Fingers crossed that stance changes.

Or just buy a $40 fire stick and problem solved....

The fire stick is too slow to use as a main streaming device. Personally, I like the overall Roku interface better across all the different services. The search function specifically. The remote is also much better, IMO. Roku Premier Plus also supports HDR whereas Fire TV does not.

I'm kinda annoyed I can't watch PS Vue on my iPhone so far away from the house. It worked with Sling.

I think that is the case with certain channels on PSvue.

Seems to be. That might be the deal breaker for me. I like to be able to watch sports on my phone.

You can still watch espn stuff when you are away from the house. I've also had luck watching NBC Sports Network and Fox Sports Go as well via their separate apps using my PSVue credentials

To those complaining about ROKU, I switched from the ROKU 2 to the Apple TV and haven't looked back. The only advantages for the ROKU are that it allows you to plug headphones into the remote and that it was invented by an Aggie.

"tiles" are the default Roku view; however, Sony could develop a traditional guide for Roku. Sling and DirecTV Now both have traditional guides on their Roku apps.

So it appears "Mobile Restricted" is a PS Vue thing. I never noticed this with my Sling TV trial. I loved Sling, but the stream getting buffering for me at home. So far PS Vue isn't buffering near as much.

May take a look at Apple TV when they finally have Amazon Video.

Are you referencing the newest Fire tv stick? I ask because I use a PS4 and a Roku Streaming stick. Other than the guide on roku, I don't have any problems. The roku specs are a quad core processor and dual band wireless N while the Fire tv stick says quad core processor and wireless AC. I assumed the fire tv stick would be better than the roku.

I was talking about streaming boxes. I have a new fire stick, but I never use it because the premier plus performs better. So mostly saying the Roku Premier Plus has advantages over Fire TV in some areas.

However, it also has some major drawbacks. Luckily these things are fairly cheap. I may have to give the Fire TV box a shot.

Not the original one. The series two has the app store on it and you can download apps to it. The original is stuck with what was loaded from factory.

As was mentioned previously in this thread, you must log in with the app from home (on the same network as your primary Vue box - PS4, Roku, FireTV, etc) the first time to kind of sync it up. From then on, you shouldn't have difficulty watching away from home on the phone. Some channels will require you to use their app over the Vue app though (i.e. ESPN).

If you have AT&T cell phone service, you can sign up for DirecTV Now and get unlimited streaming from your phone without using data.

Ok, total rookie question here...

I always assumed PSVue was connected to actually having a Playstation, it sounds like there's actually apps available across the different streaming boxes?

I stream from my iPad to the AppleTV now when needed, bit annoying but it works fine. AppleTV app is rumored to be coming soon.

PS Vue works on PS, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire Stick, etc.

Yep, I believe it is available on every streaming box/stick other than Xbox One.

The interface is different though depending on the box. It seems it is fastest and most streamlined on the playstation. On FireTV and Apple TV there is an actual channel guide where you scroll across and can see future programming. On Roku you only get tiles, which is a bit annoying, especially when you want to record something in the future.

That could be due to the company. I have to stream from my cellular network.

Most of them should work. That's what I was trying to get at with telling you to login on the app from home and get it up and running. Should be easy to test. Make sure you're on WiFi at home. No need to uninstall the app, just login at home on WiFi and make sure everything works - watch a couple of minutes of something. Then close the app (make sure it isn't running in the background). Then disconnect from your WiFi and use your cellular data connection and try it again. Most channels should work fine.

If you've done all of that and it didn't work, I'd try once more and if still no luck, call customer support. I'm testing mine out right now. I have tested and can confirm that these work:

HGTV
ESPN2
ESPN
CNN
FOXNEWS
DIY
FOOD NETWORK
USA
FX
DISNEY
TBS
TNT
FXX

There are several other options, but I think you get the point.

well....i was able to link my AT&T phone to my DirecTV account and save $25/month plus get HBO free ($18/month value) and they are going to take $60/month for a year off of my bill as soon as I mentioned PS Vue. So it looks like my bill will go from $155/month to roughly $30/month for a year.
