Advice needed. So I've been shooting my son's freshman football games and posting those pics on a gallery on the team's website. Been posting the same album on facebook and a few team parents have shared those around. Now I'm getting flooded with friend requests from people I don't really know. The school has also asked me to shoot varsity games. I'm really pumped about that. I love shooting sports and would like to do it more. But again, random friend requests from people I don't know

Long story short, I need a way to share these galleries without having to be "friends" with all these people. I'm NOT looking to monetize this yet so I don't need to sell them, just make them easy to view and share. I'm just doing this for fun and to get practice right now. But the parents all love the pics and the players want to share them on their social media. So, public facebook group maybe? The team's website has a gallery, but it's really not that user friendly.

Maybe a Facebook business page even though it's not a business?

I'm getting ready to do a video shoot on my Lumix G85 for a client. It's just a 30 second marketing piece and its not a super huge budget. I'm fairly new to selling my video services and I was wondering what some of you charge for for doing video, if any of you charge at all.

I'm thinking of one-two locations max, maybe an hour or 2 of shooting and then about a week to edit. I'll probably throw in 2 "redo" edits also as clients often like to have additional edits made after they give the initial okay. What do you think a package like that would cost?

When you make a post on Facebook, you have options on sharing. One option is to only share with your friends, which is what you may be doing now it sounds like. That is likely the default option. Another option is to make your post public, which will allow anyone on FB to see it. That may help cut down on all the friend requests from strangers. I have had a similar experience in the past.

Create a public FB page named "KM Photos" (any old name) and post the albums there.

Then quit putting them on your personal page.

Yeah im making them public. People want to see them pop up on their feed though.

So just create a new page, not a group then?

Yeah a new page would work, doesn't have to be a group. You would have to direct people to the new page for the photos, but probably not a big deal.

ETA: If they want posts from the page to show in their feed, I think all they have to do is click on the "Follow" button on the new FB page.

You can do either, but a page might just be easier since you are not creating events.

I took this through my Nikon 17-55 f2.8. I really want to sell that lens to get a 14-24 f2.8 and then eventually get a 24-70 f2.8 as well (already own a 70-200 f2.8). Every time I'm outdoors with my 17-55 I wish I had a wider angle lens. I'm hoping 14 is enough.

Do you ever take multiple images and stitch into a panorama? Cheaper than a new lens, although that's a legendary lens.

Mr Dubi talked me into a Canon 10-22 lens.

It took me a long time to learn to love it, but now I always have it with me!

I actually didn't consider a panorama on that shot in AZ. I was wanting a little more foreground in the shot and some sky above the cliff in the upper right of the frame. I wasn't really looking for more side to side angle if that makes sense. I have only stitched a panorama once. I was as far away as I could get for this shot and I was still wanting some more sky above the peak and beach point in front of the island. Can you stitch things vertically in lightroom? Or would I need to shoot in portrait orientation and then stitch the frames together?

You can stitch vertically, absolutely.

My normal process when I want a horizontal pano is to shoot vertical across the scene (or if I want a vertical pano I shoot horizontal up and down) and then stitch. Helps in those moments where you need to go a little wider but don't have the glass.

I take photos for middle school football and soccer. Almost every game is played with enough sunlight that my 70-300mm 4.5-5.6 and 70-200mm 2.8 can get any shot. I also use a 35mm 1.8 for other shots.

I am interested in these two lenses, but can only afford one. Which one of these should I buy as my next lens?

24-70mm 2.8

or

18-400mm 3.5-6.3

The correct answer is never, ever a 18-400.

I own both of those In Tamron /Canon mount.

24-70 portraits

18-400 is only used on vacay when I have to leave my good lenses at home due to space and weight constraints. Also there is a big price differential. We have never used it at home.

Buy the 24-70.

Let's say I'm in the market for a 70-200 2.8 for Nikon. What would be a better purchase: A used older version of the actual Nikon lens, like this one for example with the old VR technology, or a brand new Tamron like this one? I have no experience with Tamron lenses, but I've watched a few reviews and it seems pretty decent. I will be using this to shoot mainly sports, but probably a few portraits as well.

And is KEH the recommended place for used gear?

I have used KEH and been pleased.

The Tamron 70-200 G2 is the bomb; I love mine.

I rented a G2 and the earlier version. I felt like the G2 was actually the slower to focus of the two. I was using them at an airshow, though, in case that matters. Interestingly, the woman working at the rental outfit said some other guy shooting airplane stuff had the exact same feedback.

To be clear - both were great, though.

I use my Canon 100-400 at the airport for planes.

However I have used an older version Canon 70-200 f2.8 and prefer the newer Tamron.

I have a Canon 24-70 f2.8L (series I, no image stabilization) lens for sale. It's in great shape and well maintained. What should I expect to sell it for?

I'll give ya $100 for it!

Kidding.... that lens is worth way more than that.

Looking to go full frame. Could upgrade from a6000 to an a7ii with a couple prime lenses for under a grand. I do real estate for a side hustle but love landscapes and shooting family events. Anyone have experience with the a7m2 and movement/AF?

I think the a7III is worth the extra money. Nothing wrong with the a7II though if you're just going to be using it for RE stuff, it's just an old camera.

Seriously, though, if you or anyone is interested, it is in fantastic shape and ill do it for 500 on here if you can pick up in downtown Houston.

Also have a 50D body that I'll unload for....whatever. Still works well, its just a 50D body.

Quick request for a middle of the price range point and shoot.
