this, and try the free program "Recuva"...have had good success pulling off a few important files from a crashed hard drive in the past.jay040 said:
If you have an external hard drive case you could try adding it to a second computer that's already booted and see if you can recover any data.
In what way was it crashed? I'm interested because I also have an old IDE hard drive that tries to spin up and makes a ticking sound until it finally gives up. The drive is recognized by the BIOS at least.ABKitch said:this, and try the free program "Recuva"...have had good success pulling off a few important files from a crashed hard drive in the past.jay040 said:

This looks like exactly what I need.TechnoAg said:
I had a drive go out a few months ago with the click of death. After a lot of research, it seems you can fix it with replacing the PCB board. Depending on the model and age you can buy a new one and 5 screws and you are done. Worst case you have to send the old board in to clone it onto a new one. It worked like a charm. I used http://www.onepcbsolution.com/index.html
Same here. Going to try it on a recently crashed drive as I'm sure I have a similar drive sitting around that I can harvest from.redd38 said:This looks like exactly what I need.TechnoAg said:
