How long do you want to ignore this user?
My Uverse expires in 6 weeks and I am looking for cheaper options. I would like to keep my Uverse internet, and run 2 TVs in the house.

Playstation Vue seems to have all the channels I want.
Except for HBO, which I can buy an online sub to.
I think I need Amazon Fire TV or Stick to stream Vue and the HBO app.
I want a DVR of some sort to make it all work on 2 TVs and on my schedule. Plex? Roku? Other?
Do I still need an HD antenna for local channels?

Am I getting this right? Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Be careful and check your monthly cap, I just saw a report that Uverse will start enforcing it in the next month or two. You probably won't have to worry about it, but going over to streaming only for all the TV's can potentially put a large boost on your usage.

Ditch Uverse all together unless they just have ridiculous speeds in your area. If you are looking to stream everything go with cable internet (buy your own modem). Typically faster and more reliable than Uverse.

Uverse is supposedly offering some good deals to convert to DirectTV. Apparently they are slowly closing down Uverse tv.

Good point. I see they just gave me unlimited data, if I keep my bundle. How kind of them.

Dump their bundle and pass the 600gb cap, I pay an extra $10 per month for each 50gb of data.

The struggle is real.

If you are just looking for an internet provider, dump Uverse ASAP and switch to xfinity. Their prices are competitive and the speeds are literally 5-10x faster than uverse

An HD movie is what, 20gb? So if you stream more than 3 hours of HD programming per day, you easily pass 600gb in a month. I realize that I am derailing my own thread, but a 600gb cap kind of influences my decision.

Netflix says that their HD is about 3 GB/hour, FYI.

Also I believe the Vue has cloud based DVR capabilities as well as broadcast channels (not sure if it's localized for you but I imagine it would be considering for the longest time the service was limited by location).

Well, Xfinity has a 300gb cap with $10 per extra 50gb used.

Caps are where ISP's that have TV service are going to start screwing folks.
have they started enforcing this? Last I checked it wasn't enforced in TX.

My Xfinity account does not have caps. Houston market.

Xfinity/Comcast offers a data only package that comes with a HBO login. It's aimed at people looking into streaming.

I have this Xfinity package plus the Dish 120+ package for TV. Comcast data w HBO login + Dish was cheaper than Comcast for both TV/data & UVerse for both. Read the fine print of what your bills will jump to.

I'm a big fan of Dish. $8 per additional TV. Dish just released their 4K Hopper with the ability to record a ridiculous amount (16 shows at once IIRC). Streaming Sling TV (which Dish actually owns) is $25 per acct/simultaneous device watching.

Do your research . If you go Dish, here's a $50 off code in my thread:

Where do you live? I have 300mb speed in North Texas and I'm about 99% sure I have no cap. I didn't even know you could buy such a thing as capped Internet these days.

Edit- apparently I am capped at 1 TB/month. Did not know that.

I did this recently when I moved. Getting 10x the speed from xfinity for about the same price per month.

I liked Uverse better for cable TV, though, but xfinity definitely wins out for Internet speeds.

Xfinity is 5-10x faster then Gigapower?

It isn't gigs power in all area. Some neighborhoods max out on UVerse around DSL speeds.

Uverse comes in two favors, one that's capped at ~24mb/s and gigapower which starts at 300mb/s. I have had 18mb/s internet through ATT for the last two years and it's an unreliable piece of junk. TWC has offered at least 50mb/s for the entirety of those 2 years at the same cost, and at the end of last year released 300mb/s service for the same cost as my 18mb/s service. ATT has finally connected fiber lines to my house, so I can jump on the 300mb/s (or greater) service. Calling tomorrow because of this thread.

Yeah, AT&T has been able to bump up the speeds for base Uverse in many areas as they upgrade equipment. I think it's up to around ~70Mbps in some areas.

It apparently depends on your distance from the source, with the theoretical maximum at 300 mb/s on the low end. The reality is that the 45 mb/s that I can get for the promo price of $65/mo is the same as the 300 mb/s service I could be getting from TWC.
