How long do you want to ignore this user?
Xbox one
Samsung 6203
A/V Receiver

1 S/PDIF cable
3 HDMI cables

Plenty of inputs/outputs on my receiver.

Best way to go about this? Going to need to add my cable box on Tuesday, so that'll be another need.

Hm think I got it.

HDMI from Xbox to TV.
Optical from Xbox to receiver for audio.
HDMI from cable to receiver

My setup is similar. I run everything through the receiver though.

Cable box to receiver (hdmi)
SeXbox to receiver (hdmi)

Receiver to TV (hdmi). Doneski.

I'm trying that but having trouble with the video connection porting to the TV. I'll figure it out when I have a little more time. Def want everything through the receiver (Xbox and cable) to the TV.

I'm lazy so I just run everything to the TV HDMI and then one optical cable to the receiver from the TV

Interesting. Lose any quality? I have 2 HDMI inputs on this TV so I guess this could work.

Running just optical from the TV means no Dolby True HD or DTS HD, everything will be downsampled to standard Dolby digital, so yes there is quality loss. The only time going optical from TV would be ok is when using a soundbar IMO.

I was under the impression that Netflix had started offering Dolby True HD, might be mistaken haven't used Netflix in a while.

EDIT: It was Dolby Digital Plus I was thinking of and it CAN be carried via optical.

Pretty much my setup (All HDMI):

Cable Box -> Xbox One -> Receiver -> TV

"Xbox On" and "Xbox Turn Off" to turn it all on and off at once.

My setup was similar. I had to add a command to my remote to turn the Xbox on every time I selected Uverse. Worked great
