Be careful. When you start a game you can't stop. I'm up to 200 hours.

all 3 Batman: Arkham games are $5 apiece, the first 2 are GOTY editions(meaning DLC included).

What say yall? worth $5?

Definitely. Even if you decide to skip one and move on, it's worth a flier.

It had the worst reviews, but I actually liked Arkham Origins the best, I think. Probably because it focused on more obscure characters than what I saw on every cartoon episode growing up.

FTL for $2.50 is a steal, too. I put over 40 hours in that game and I'm always curious when I'll get addicted to it again.

I bought Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons for $2.49

Pretty neat so far. Although I'm glad you can't run off edges, or I would have died so many times from my brain freaking out when I'm trying to control both at the same time.

I enjoyed it quite a bit, although the theme music is incredibly annoying haha

So, since I have three kids, the past 10 years have been a huge gaming drop off for me. I am looking to play something on the side.

Like I said, I have really not played anything in 10 years. Of everything that is listed on Steam, what would you recommend me picking up? I'll give a budget of $25.

To help...I have played several COD's (limited) - #2, World at War, and MW1&2. I like the shooters but to be honest, I only play single-campaign because my limited gaming time does not allow me to compete against a 10-year old. So, I guess I am looking for something more geared toward single player and FUN. I considered the Bioshock stuff.

Anyhow, what you think?

Got Pillars of Eternity on sale, $30 instead of $45.

I think its pretty impossible to go wrong with Bioshock. The whole franchise was on sale recently so you could have gotten all 3 for less than $20. If it's not still on sale right now, wait until the last day of the sale, they usually put back up the best deals of the sale. If you are into shooters, my favorite is Borderlands. The story is great, its kind of like a shooter-rpg rather than a standard FPS. The Borderlands franchise has also been on sale recently, the GOTY editions of 1 and 2 are usually $5 - $7.50.

I'm kind of a SupergiantGames apologist at this point so I'd suggest getting both Bastion and Transistor. Both are isometric action RPGs with Transistor having some tactical aspects to it. They visually beautiful, musically haunting, and tell their story in pretty unique ways. Their campaigns are reasonably paced, not too long but not too short either, and have good replay value if you want to play around with their respective combat systems.

Goat Simulator is $2.50, I've heard stories on how hilarious the game is. Anyone here have experience?

Meh. It's a textbook Pewdiepie/any other screami'ng YouTuber game. One of those "look how ironic were being" games. If you played it by yourself with no one watching, I really don't think it would be that funny. It be like watching the Big Bang theory without a laugh track

thanks for the feedback,

Also the Fallout series is on sale, might be worth a look.

If you like civ and strategy type games, check out Europa universalis on sale today. It's an entirely different animal but it's awesome.

Both older batman games are on sale for 5 bucks a pop right now too.

Right now I'm debating whether or not to buy this game called "Ultimate General: Gettysburg". It's only 3 bucks so I'll probably buy it.

Also, it's been on sale all summer but I never noticed it - Defcon is only 1.50 on the marketplace. I used to play the crap out of that.

Bump. Last deal rotation just came up and pretty much anything you could want is on sale. Just pick a franchise and go nuts.

There are some stupid deals right now. All the Arkham games are 4.99, Fallout 3 and New Vegas are 2.50 each, The Witcher 1 and 2 combined cost 4 bucks, Bioshock triple pack for 10 bucks, Tomb Raider is 3.99, Borderlands 1 and 2 for 10 bucks. I could keep going.

Are the witcher games good? I've only seen the trailers for the 3rd one. Also could I adapt it to controller? I grew up on console so controllers have the best feel for any type of fps/rpg type game. I only ask because I tried to adapt Dragon Age Origins to controller but there's too many buttons to map it effectively. The Mass Effect trilogy adapts great though so configuration similar to that would work best. I suppose a better question is, are there a too many buttons or can it be mapped to a controller?

Well it's over now. Didn't buy nearly as many games this year compared to last year. Jumped on borderlands presequel plus the season pass right before it ended.

Yeah I only spent about a hundred this year. Seems like I own much of the fluff I already want. The first year I did the summer sale I went nuts. Now my library is 250+ and I was running out of things to get. The last two days when they had the broad page of all the sale redos I had already owned about 75 percent of them.

Same here. I've got such a backlog in my steam library that I'll probably never get to 3/4 of them. My damage this year:

I am Bread 4.41 USD
Please Don't Touch Anything 2.49 USD
Shovel Knight 10.04 USD
Infinifactory 16.74 USD
Car Mechanic Simulator 2.74 USD

Total: $36.42
hunter2012
How long do you want to ignore this user?
bought 12 games:

Batman:Arkham Trilogy-$15
Bioshock Trilogy-$10.23 + Burial at Sea DLC-$10
Brothers a tale of 2 sons- $2.50(I think)
Dishonoured- $5
FTL+OST-$3.50
Tomb Raider-$10
Total war Rome 2+ some DLC- $18ish
Valkyria Chronicles-$5

Pretty dang happy at the deals I got, seeing as how I finished my build at the beginning of this year and just needed some games. So glad I kept it under $100.

I'd be interested to see a full list of the price of all the games on steam during the sale versus all the same games not on steam
