How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have TWC tv and internet and I have the watchespn app on my ipad. If I cancel my tv but keep my internet with TWC, will I still have full access to everything on the watchespn app?

Not at the moment. You need an account with one of the few tv providers they partner with. If you want ESPN 3 only through the Internet, then you might be able to get that, but I don't have TW for Internet so I'm not sure if TW Internet customers have access to ESPN 3.

The WatchESPN app is different from WatchESPN.com. I have AT&T DSL and DirecTV and can get ESPN 3 on my computer, but I don't have access to anything through the WatchESPN app on my iPhone.

Ok, thanks guys. Right now, I can watch espn, espn U, espn 2 and espn 3 on the app. I want to get rid of cable but college football is holding me back and I was thinking that this would basically allow me to still watch espn1 & 2 without having cable.

You can only get ESPN3 if you only subscribe to TWC Internet.
You have to have a TWC TV subscription to get all the WatchESPN streams.

Question for someone smarter than me:

I can watch espn3 content (the non blocked out stuff anyway) on my PC at home as I have suddenlink internet... and I've synced my espn account through both chrome and the default web browser on my phone (Samsung Galaxy Nexus).

I downloaded the watchespn app for my phone, but when I realized I didn't have automatic access (through the app) to all the espn channels because my mv service is through directv I uninstalled the watchespn app... figuring I would just stream espn3 content on my phone from the regular website rather than the app.

When I go to the website on my phone (I click on the "full website" link) it brings up the links to all the present and past content I have access to that by all appearances are the exact same links that shows up on my PC (which works just fine).

HOWEVER, when I click on one of those "full website" links on my phone, instead of playing the file it redirects to the watchespn app which doesn't work with anything.

Is there anyway to keep my phone (when linking from the "full website" page in my phone's browsers) from trying to link to the watchespn app which doesn't work... so that I can just open up the espn3 content directly into my phone's web browser?

I've read online that others do this, but I've not seen references to my specific problem.

Games covered on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU in your area are not available on ESPN3 anymore (as of 8/27). WatchESPN will have them available

Access to ESPN3 is based on your ISP. Access to WatchESPN is based on your TV provider. If you don't have one of a few cable companies as your TV provider, you will not be able to watch content that is available in your area on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU

http://espn.go.com/watchespn/faq?

Read the FAQ's, it's all there, including the ISP's and TV providers that they have partnerships with that allow access

I think I may have gotten lucky. My plan was to ditch cable entirely in Feb, but I kept the basic package because internet only was $62/mo, and Internet plus basic cable was $40/mo. I get about 20 channels total, no ESPN channels. I didn't think WatchESPN would work for me since I don't get ESPN, but it did and still does. I think Comcast/Xfinity or ESPN may not have the authorization aspect of this down very well yet, only the authentication through the TV providers (it does reach out to Comcast and I have to login to authenticate)

Yeah I've read through all that stuff and none of it addressed my specific issue.

My problem isn't access to content. I get all the ESPN broadcasts (except of course for the ones blacked out cuz they're on my TV service) just fine on my desktop PC through suddenlink internet.

My problem is I can't get either of my browsers on my phone to open the games in my browser... whenever I click on the links it keeps trying to open them in the watchespn app (which I uninstalled).

That is, from your phone.

ESPN is trying to move the majority if not all of the live content from ESPN3 to WatchESPN. I was able to get free live streaming ESPN sports with just my ATT Uverse Internet, or Grande Internet, or Verizon DSL Internet. It was the same with all other ISPs that had ESPN3 with the exception to Time Warner. Time Warner requires that you also have cable TV package that includes ESPN in order to get live sports on ESPN3.

WatchESPN basically is making all content providers follow the ESPN3 Time Warner model. For me, having to pay for cable TV just to get live ESPN3 content completely defeats the entire purpose on me surviving without cable TV. The thing is, ESPN made this change right before the start of college football season and they knew exactly that there would be a lot of unhappy ESPN3 users.

EDIT: Replace the **** with that dirty "s" word.

First Row will now be my default go to place for live sports until they bring it back the way it was before.

You should be able to access everything on the app. I have DirecTV and Comcast for internet. I have had no issues watching anything on the WatchESPN app. The kicker may be the fact that I also use Comcast for my email. I use my Comcast login information to log into the app. I have no television service whatsoever through Comcast.
