A while back some of you guys recommended me to buy an Onkyo HT-RC260 for my home theater system. i never pulled the trigger (house was not ready yet) and now i cannot find one for sale online. what is the current equivalent out there?

I admit that i am a dummy when it comes to home audio stuff, so yes i did research it and no i still have no clue.

Get the NR 609. I got one and a friend got one right after me and we have both been more than satisfied!

I just started a thread about how I discovered the problem Onkyo is having with HDMI connections. It's happened to me twice in four years. Google HDMI and Onkyo and think twice.

thanks for the feedback guys....

the main thing i am wanting with this receiver - i will want surround sound in main viewing area, but also want sound to go to speakers outside on my patio. will i be able to get this with the NR609?

i like good sound, but i dont have the need to overkill on it either. there will be few times i will have it cranked to 11 (small kids)

I seriously would consider Denon.

I really like the Onkyo features and I think overall the brand is very good, but also have had HDMI issues. I have two AVR's and both of them have problems. One is almost at the point of being unwatchable. It is not a difficult fix, but if you are not able or willing to do it yourself its kind of a pain. The problem is, that it doesnt show up until after a year or so, so you can't even go off of recent reviews of new AVR's. I'd wait a while until its apparent that Onkyo has solved this problem.

Also, the feature you want for indoor/outdoor is multiple zones. My Onkyo 606 has this. Its definitely handy for the patio speakers.
