How hard is it to replace the power jack on a laptop. Thanks to a rambunctious 18 month old, the port is now loose and jambed inside. I don't feel like paying a couple hundred bucks to fix a $400 laptop.

Looks that way. I looked up some YouTube videos and other website walk thrus for it and you basically have to take it completely apart and knowing my luck I'll screw it up.

What is the exact model of your laptop?

Toshiba satellite L335d-s7901. The actual model number is psle8u-02p01d. Is there some kind of 'recall' I don't know about. Because that would be nice.

I've had to do it twice. Its not that hard at all. Just go to Radio Shack and show them your power cord so you get the right Jack. Should be able to just take out a few screws(and by a few, I mean about fifteen or so) and you can take it apart pretty easily. The videos online will tell you the rest. Probably took me an hour the first time and maybe ten minutes the second time.

Read that over and see if you think you could handle it. You can order a replacement DC Jack with harness from either ebay or amazon.

I had a Dell at work that this happened to and was told it was a paper of the motherboard. So they got me a new computer.

I think I might attempt it. What's the worst that could happen.
