You might find a decent 42". Anything 46" and under $500 is going to be 720p and a POS.

You might want to use this Deals Near Me tool to see if your local Best Buy has an open box discounted down enough to make it worth buying from them. Most Best Buys are trying to move their open box and returns to make room for Black Friday inventory so talk to the manager and see if you can haggle a good deal.

Looks like Best Buy will have a Sharp 42" 1080p LCD for $199.99 on black Friday.

720p v 1080p at 42-46" is going to be unnoticeable. My only advice is to stick with one of the major brands and buy the largest set that fits your budget. TV's have a habit of shrinking once you bring them home.

This coming from a guy that had a 720 43" set right next to a 1080 59" set for about 2 weeks.

I got a Samsung 43" plasma from Sam's club for $400 six months ago.

It's got a great picture. Very happy with it.
