I'm looking for a scanner (probably an AIO) that will pick up highlighter and put it in a PDF.

My Xerox Workcenter at the office does it great. The $69.99 Brother AIO I bought at OfficeMax didnt work at all.

The googles on the interwebs has failed me. (TexAgs knows stuff anyway.)

What can I look for that would indicate a scanner will pick up highlighter marks?

Recommendations on AIO's?

Why can't you just print it to a new PDF file?

I need to be able to write notes, highlight things then put into a PDF.

I guess if I had a full version of Adobe Acrobat, I could highlight?

Hell if I know but I tried orange, yellow, green and pink on a color page. Scanned in color. Everything came thru in color but the highlighter. Barely could see a faint outline of the highlighter marks.

I just ran a test with my Canon MP530 with a variety of highlighters and here's the result:

and the corresponding import scan window which shows the exact scan settings. Nothing fancy.


If that's adequate I can wholeheartedly recommend this AIO or the identical replacement. I know when I bought it, it had one of the cheapest $0.00/pg and better print quality.

Does your work scanner turn it back into text via OCR or something? If you are turning a text document into an image, which is what most older scanners do, then you're losing the information content that lets you search etc.

I have the full Acrobat, and I think it's the best solution. Not only do you not have to print and rescan to highlight, but you can also set bookmarks and do a bunch of other things.
