I've only played one FF game, FF3 on SNES. I enjoyed the story, music, and gameplay. I'm considering buying FFXIII but in my reading/research regarding the series, apparently 7 is one of, if not THE best. I definitely missed out on it 10+ years ago and would like to give it a shot now.

With all the troubles I've read regarding the PC version, is a PS emulator the best route? I know there was the long thread about modding an Xbox and installing emulators, but I didn't see any mention of PS and I'm content using a computer. What say you Nerdery?

Yes use a PS emulator. Havent played that game specifically but I've played a few others on one (games I actually owned for a change) and they worked fine.

i use the emulator PSX and it works flawlessly

a lot of people like ePSXe because it's more customizable and has a wide selection of plugins, but PSX is the most user-friendly. you can just find some BINs or ISOs of the games you want (i found one for FF7 but i won't link it here for hopefully obvious reasons ) and it works exactly like my old PS1 copy

also, while it's not necessary, i highly recommend getting a gamepad. i like the wireless USB logitech gamepad myself, and it easily syncs with the PSX emulator

i also like to hook up my laptop to my TV via HDMI cable but i wouldn't call that a requirement
