Don't guess. Just be patient and react. It's not as difficult as you make it seem.

I continue to play the game but last night I was pretty frustrated with back to back games in spring training where I was brought in as a defensive replacement in the late innings just to watch a swing and miss. All the load time to do absolutely nothing.

My 2 cents is just turn off base running in RTTS if you don't like it. It's made my enjoyment of the game greatly increase.

okay... the single most irritating thing about this game so far is the damn batter pulling back a bunt when you're trying to get a jump on the pitch on the base paths. no, i'm not trying to steal 3rd, PS3. i'm trying to help my player out who's dragging a damn tractor around the base paths... GO AHEAD WITH THE BUNT!!

Well I might be done with this game. I finished up year 3 and tried free agency. I only got one offer and that was from my current team. So I went ahead and signed with them for one more year. Spring training was a joke. I hit .500+ and didn't get one start the entire time...all pinch hit duty. They started me out in AAA coming off the bench. Not too much fun in that.

I couldn't miss in the first half of the AA season, hitting close to 400. Now I'm at 230...
The more points I rack up in the hitting categories the worse my hitting gets. Wtf?

Yeah, I'm looking to getting a baseball game. From the complaints on this thread, I might just get MLB The Show 08 instead.

Has anyone tried to sign with a different team in the offseason in RTTS? I spent the whole year in 2013 in Detroit on the bench, hitting about .295 with 15 RBI in around 150 ABs, 14 doubles, and 10 SBs, then in the offseason got offered a contract for one year to be a AA starter. I wanted to tell them to F off and sign with another team. I didn't sign, but never got another offer from another team, and at the end of the offseason, Detroit renewed my contract, and I'm in spring training, again just pinch hitting every game, which will take forever.

I'm finally starting to actually get good at hitting, and I'm getting the hang of running bases, but I still can't crack the starting lineup in the bigs. Can't earn points fast enough to keep skills from deteriorating at some points.

Kyle...same exact thing happened to me. I'm going to just sim the new season and see if I can actually get a starting gig somewhere.

You should have taken the starting job. Tearing up the minor leagues is a great way to earn points and build your attributes.

Remember: the level that you play at is based on your attributes, not your stats. If you're not able to maintain your attributes riding the bench, then getting demoted to a lower league is not necessarily a bad thing if it lets you play every game.

Oh, I got signed in the end. I simmed ST and didn't save, just to see where I'd end up, and I'm starting in AAA. Just figured I'd be in the majors full time by the 2014 season. If I had spent some of 2013 at AAA, I'd have much better attributes, and be more able to get a roster spot on a big league club. Since Detroit took me in the Rule 5 draft, I had to stay on the big club all year, and didn't get the playing time to keep my attributes going. That's another reason I didn't want to re-sign there, they kinda f'ed me over in that regard.

Aside from the baserunning, I don't see why everyone despises the game. If you think it's too hard, change the sliders. You HAVE to do this. If you don't, all the outfielders run down EVERYTHING with the speed of Carl Lewis...if you change the settings, the fast guys are still fast and the Hideki Matsui's look like Hideki Matsui. Use the sliders I've posted numerous times and then tinker with it.

I agree investor, and I've started getting used to the baserunning, and don't make nearly as many mistakes.

Play with the sliders. Adjust contact up, vision up, outfielder speed down, etc. Use the ones investor posted as a base and tweak from there if you want.

So does anyone actually run a franchise?

I'm waiting on one of the guys over at OS to finish up a full minors roster, then I will. I hate playing a franchise without at least the major prospects in the minors.

I'm in the middle of one but I'm going to start over when the rosters + minors come out like Kyle mentioned.

I've asked this many times, but is there any interest in an online franchise/season?

I was planning on joining up with Cru for one, but apparently its a major undertaking to even start one up. First, he had to play at least 10 online games, then it said he had to have so high a rating in online games. Don't think he's gotten there yet, not sure if its still going to happen or not.

I'm partially through season 4 in my franchise. Really enjoy how in depth it is, even if the gameplay can be frustrating.

Theres a border between realistic and too realistic its not even fun anymore.

Have you guys doing nothing but complaining about the game adjusted the sliders at all? What difficulty are you playing on? If you're playing All-Star with stock sliders, you're going to struggle mightily. Even on Veteran with stock sliders, I can't hit a lick. After playing around with the sliders, I started getting better results.

i was playing on rookie with stock sliders. then i moved the sliders and upped the difficulty to veteran, and actually did better.

frankly, the most help was changing the feedback on pitch guess to 1/4.

i'm glad it's a hard game. i'd rather it be this hard than go out there and hit .400 every season until i'm bored with it.

Yeah, I like 1/4 as well. Helps a ton. I usually guess fastball, because I can adjust easier to off-speed stuff.

I started a new RTTS after simulating one year with my old dude only to see all his attributes plummet. I am playing on Veteran and kicked down the slider on the fielders speed. That seems to help alot. Have you guys tried the 1/6? I like it as it shows you the exact location when you get it right.

I would also kick up the contact and vision (I think that's what it is) sliders a little bit. That will help you make better contact.

if you sim, you still have to distribute the points you acquire via training, i believe. i sim'd for a bit and stopped when i hit the end of a period of evaluation and i had built up like 350 training points i had to distribute.

I figure if you sim you would lose some of the attributes but had no clue it was going to be that bad. All fielding stats went from 50's to 20's. Power went from 80 to 65. Contact from 70 to 45. I had the Auto Save on for some stupid reason.

i really enjoy this game. I am in year 2011 as a first basemen on the stros. I start instead of Berkman for some retarded reason. I am hitting .310 w/ 26 home runs and leading the NL for rookie of the year. I am at the end of august 2011 on that one. I turned off all fielding and base running opportunities and just hit.

Got traded to the Brewers AA team. They get a runner in scoring position maybe once every two games. So...to get the number of RBIs they want I have to bad close to 1.000 with RISP. Fantastic...
And every time i have a good hitting streak they put in a pinch hit situation. Stupid brewers. Send me back to the Angels...
