The Texans trading for Montgomery really got my fantasy juices flowing. It had me thinking about players who haven't fully broken out yet but could finally get their opportunity this season. I'm in a dynasty league, so I'm always looking a year ahead and trying to identify those "pop" candidates before everyone else catches on.
I've got a few stash players already and a couple trade targets I'm trying to acquire, so I figured I'd start a thread to see who everyone else is watching heading into this season.
Players currently on my roster:
Keaton Mitchell: Every time this guy touches the field he looks explosive, but being behind Derrick Henry has really capped his potential. Doesn't help that he gets hurt every time he sees the field. Honestly, I'm kind of hoping he ends up getting traded somewhere that actually commits to using him. Feels like a make or break year. I just don't see Henry slowing down enough for Mitchell to fully take over where he is now.
Trey Benson: Probably the most frustrating stash on my roster. Two years in a row he's had a path to meaningful RB1 snaps and both times injuries derailed things. I'm not overflowing with confidence, but I'm hoping he gets early-season touches to show something. Otherwise, I may start shopping him.
Trade targets I'm eyeing:
Bhayshul Tuten: just read an article that Liam Coen specifically prioritized him in last year's draft. If Etienne isn't re-signed, the door could open fast for touches. He's probably my favorite buy-low target this offseason.
Tre Harris: Real interesting player to me, mainly a blocker last year, but dude as a stud at Ole Miss. Under McDaniels, I could see him carving out a larger role if the offense leans into his skill set.
Kyle Williams: Similar situation. If Diggs doesn't come back, that WR room suddenly feels wide open, and someone is going to emerge.
Curious what everyone else thinks. Does anyone have break out candidates that they are targeting this season? Any stash players you're holding that you think are about to break out?
