Worst Super Bowl in a long time. Boring game between two teams most people don't care about.

Congratulations to the Seattle Seahawks for defeating the New England Patriots 29-13 to win their 2nd Super Bowl title and first since a 43-8 demolishing of the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII on 2/2/2014. As a result, the Seahawks avenged a 28-24 loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX on 2/1/2015 and denied the Patriots an NFL-record 7th Super Bowl title. I noticed a few other trends:

1. The Seahawks have won 10 consecutive games and became the 4th Super Bowl champion to end a postseason run on a 10-game winning streak.

2. The Seahawks became the first Super Bowl champion with no turnovers in the postseason.

3. Mike Macdonald, at 38 years, 227 days old, is the third-youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl, behind only Sean McVay (36-20) in Super Bowl LVI on 2/13/2022 and Mike Tomlin (36-223) in Super Bowl XLIII on 2/1/2009.

4. This is just the second Super Bowl ever without a touchdown through the first 3 quarters and the first since the Patriots vs Rams Super Bowl LIII on 2/3/2019.

5. The Patriots are the first team to go scoreless through the first three quarters of a Super Bowl since the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl VIII on 1/13/1974.

Darnold is the first QB from the 2018 draft to win the Super Bowl

got a ring before Josh Allen or Lamar -- did not see that coming

I worked with JSN's dad a few times in the past (super nice guy). Good to see him on the field with his son after the game.

Honestly it was pretty boring. Clearly the Hawks knew they could win if they played safe. Pats didn't deserve to be there. Rams vs Hawks was way better. The AFC was down this season. Made for a pedestrian game. Sometimes when you know you can win by controlling the game that's how you win. Hawks did this all season. Not sexy but they got another ring

The #1 scoring defense is now 5-1 vs the top passer rating QB when they meet in the SB.

Joe Montana is the only top rated passer to beat a #1 scoring defense, destroying Denver 55-10 in SB XXIV. That remains the largest SB margin of victory.

another thing...

late in the season during one of the Patriots' games...

the network showed a stat that New England had played the softest schedule of any NFL team since 1999

and then the QB's they faced to reach the Super Bowl: Herbert-Stroud-Stidham

Yea the perks of going 4-13 the previous year, get a last place schedule. Pair that with a bad division (Jets & Dolphins) and that 14-3 record was a lot of smoke and mirror.

Yes, WSJ's Andrew Beaton wrote an article titled, "The Lucky Breaks That Helped Propel the Patriots Back to the Super Bowl."

The numbers show that the Patriots played the easiest schedule in more than a quarter-century. New England opponents in the regular season finished with a 113-176 record, or a winning percentage of .391. Only two teams since 1980, according to Stats, have played a softer slate: the Jacksonville Jaguars and the then-St. Louis Rams, both in 1999. That year, the Rams went on to win the Super Bowl.

In fact, all regular season, the Patriots played just three games against teams with winning records. They lost two of them. 2 of those 3 games were against the 12-5 Bills and the other game was against the 10-7 Steelers.

Contrasted with the Seahawks 14-3 in probably the toughest division in the league - LA and SF both 12-5, with AZ as the only bad team. Plus the NFC West played the AFC South this year, which wasn't exactly a cakewalk either, especially if they played Indy before Jones got hurt.

Then Seattle played two teams in the playoffs featuring coach/QB combos (Shanahan-Purdy and McVay-Stafford) that have both been to the Super Bowl.

And Bo Nix getting hurt was a HUGE break for the Pats.
