Yeah good story. Eagles own the East since 2000 and are now America's team. Go Birds.
The Eagles control of the NFC East began in 2001 because the Giants won the NFC East and had the NFC's No. 1 seed in 2000. The Eagles won 4 consecutive NFC East division titles from 2001 to 2004. Then, there was a 20-year run of no repeat NFC East division title until the Eagles won back-to-back NFC East division titles in 2024 and 2025, but the Eagles have won the NFC East in 12 of the last 25 years:
Eagles: 12 (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2013, 2017, 2019, 2022, 2024, and 2025)
Cowboys: 7 (2007, 2009, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2023)
Giants: 3 (2005, 2008, and 2011)
Commanders: 3 (2012, 2015, and 2020)
It's insane how the Eagles are the only repeat division winner in 2025 after the Steelers defeated the 2-time defending AFC North Champion Ravens. This means the AFC North continues its streak without a 3-peat champion since its formation in 2002. 4 division winners from last year missed the playoffs (Chiefs, Ravens, Lions, Bucs), and 3 other division winners from last year went 12-5 but finished second in their respective divisions (Rams, Bills, and Texans). 5 of the 7 new division winners this year missed the playoffs last year (Seahawks, Patriots, Jaguars, Bears, and Panthers), and only 2 of the 7 new division winners made the playoffs last year (Broncos and Steelers).
