It wasn't dumb and that wasn't the plan. Brown was supposed to go down and keep the clock running. Then a couple of kneels or whatever, kick the FG and be done.

But Brown got injured which stopped the clock, so CIN scored a TD instead, which forced DEN to have to do the same, which they did thanks to the CIN bad defense.
