This thread has been dead and old hard corps like me haven't watched/listened to any Cowboys podcasts since the draft.

Safe to say, yeah, a lot of us have reached a point of complete indifference. This will change once training camp starts, but right now I could care less.

Even with training camp, I am not enthused. Zeke will be named the starter and we will be told he looks better than ever which will be more of the same. A few key guys will go down with injury. The drama with Parsons and Lamb will be unnecessary but because Stephen is a fool it will happen. Insiders will leak that there is zero speed or explosiveness in the RB room and that the new OL are struggling.

Yup. Haven't been on here for awhile. Can't wait to overpay Dak and pick up a few spare burned out vets who the Joneses will swear have a few more great years left.

Tiring.

I ask my cowboy buddies all the time what is the plan? I could say the same about my Hawks, but it feels like Jerry is quietly quitting. I joked he is tanking on purpose to lock in the next Aikman. Just watched an old nfl films on the 1993 cowboys. The year Emmitt held out. Dude played with a separated shoulder. Man that cowboy team was stacked!!

No posts in 8 days.

The Green Bay skull ****ing seems to have killed enthusiasm for a long time.

Can't speak for everyone, but for me personally, it's more than just the Green Bay game. Any time the Cowboys have been good in the last 20+ years, it seems like they're quick to believe their own hype, and they quickly get humbled by a real contender (or even a team they're better than but get embarrassed by anyway).

I'm sure there are exceptions, but it feels like every single time they have a chance to "prove it," they wet the bed on the biggest stages. So while they're still the only NFL team I root for, it's been years since I allowed myself to emotionally buy in or ever believe that "this year is gonna be special." I'll tune in to most of the games, but no matter who they beat in the regular season, it means nothing to me until they do it in the playoffs. And they never do.

With regard to this season specifically, I don't understand how we're supposed to be confident that this team has gotten any better by standing pat and pretty much doing nothing after the owner said he's "all in." So yeah…not much to be excited about, unfortunately.

Pretty much the same here. They're my only NFL team, but I have zero enthusiasm. Last year was definitely the all-in year, and we saw how that went. Now it seems that the Jones' can't decide if they want to keep this window open or start a rebuild. So they're keeping the key figures around for one more year and not doing any long term planning with their coach, QB, star WR or star pass rusher. It really looks like ownership has no idea what they're doing and no plan.

My money is on the ownership doing nothing before the start of the season, us starting slow, and then the entire team imploding in a very public and entertaining way. Then we start a rebuild next year without any choice in the matter

Feel the exact same way. My guess is Jerry will wait and fire McCarthy the weekend of the divisional round playoffs. And hire a new head coach Super Bowl weekend. Gotta at least stay in the news even when you can't win s?!t

If that happens then Jerry will think he is getting Bill Belichick only to watch BB got to Philly and take over a stacked roster. Dallas will roll out Zimmer for 2025 lolz with Mac Jones or Trey Lance. Although I think they keep Dak

Gallup just retired. How much dead cap are we eating this year for his contract? Good Ole Jerry loves to Ambulance chase doesn't he!

Forget all the training camp hero hype... you wanna know what I'm sick and tired of hearing.... is how the Cowboys know the best Dr's and we get great bargains on hurt players because we have the inside scoop tbat they are gonna make a "full recovery".

https://sports.yahoo.com/cowboys-contract-ways-look-worse-100417973.html

It gets worse. Jerry and company chose Gallup over Cooper because they " liked Gallup" on a personal level. Meanwhile….. Cooper has been posting 1000 and 1200 yard seasons with Cleveland despite poor QB play.

I would have never made this call. Remember when trading for cooper revived our offense and we won the division away from Philly because of it.

I've never been a fan of Gallup as a player. At least he's no longer with the organization tho.

Running a successful franchise keys on 2 items:

1) solid drafts - they've done okay here

2) evaluating your own talent accurately -> early extend the ballers at cheaper prices while knowing who will ultimately need to walk. They've been absolutely terrible at this. Awful.

I think #2 started becoming a problem when Stephen took over this role in the past 6-8 years as he tried to add value to the organization by being a hardball negotiator. Not only that but mix in Jerry's love and loyalty to players and what they do for the brand which leads to him forcing Stephen to sign players to deals that are bad for the team. They get stuck with bad deals for players that are not cap[able of playing up to the salary (Zeke, Jaylon Smith, Gallup, Steele) or they get stuck over paying a great player because Stephen thinks he is some wizard.

Never been a fan of the nepotism in major sports businesses. I have my doubts that Stephen jones, Donnie Nelson, or Reid Ryan would've made it to the jobs they received on their own.

Happens every year. Major guy goes down early to start the downward spiral.

Geez. This was supposed to be his big leap year. More PT was definitely coming with guys like Armstrong no longer here.

1st day of camp... it sure feels like this year is going to spiral and Jerry will, AGAIN, have to go through a full coaching change this offseason.

It's almost as if we've seen this pattern repeat itself 3-4 times in the 2000's.

He'll get around 11 sacks next year and Jerry will make him the highest paid DE in football

They will have to make a move either get someone off the street with experience or some sort of trade to get another pass rusher in.

Jerry doesn't pay attention to the negative, he cites the "fastest ticket renewal" in the nfl and believes he is doing things right.

Bingo....

the tickets are being sold, never mind that in a lot of instances 1/2 to 3/4 may be in another teams color....

Me, you, Macarthur, and a couple others used to run the Cowboys talk on this board!

I was so so die hard , that if u woulda told me back then I'd become pretty indifferent, passive, and apathetic to the Cowboys I woulda said you're completely crazy. But here I am..still a fan but definitely having been hit with apathy and indifference. I think the Jones family is gonna have their pocket book hit this coming year. Obviously not gonna see financial disaster or anything but it'll be noticeable to them when they review their books.

Some moron on the radio tried blaming it on the economy, but I remember the cowboys were extremely popular and had no issue during the Great Recession and the Great Recession is still 10-20X worse than any economic pain we could be feeling right now.

No…..people aren't dumb. The cowboys promised a deep playoff run and got knocked out in extremely embarrassing and brutal fashion by the youngest team in the league. Jerry promised we would go "all in" while the team takes multiple steps back in free agency.

San Francisco still hasn't taken a step back. Things are going to be crappy this year.

I just now listened to my first Cowboys camp report (and I think first media since the draft) because I was bored... sounds like Mazi Smith still sucks donkey balls!!!

It 100% feels like this team is going to fall apart this year. I don't see a way to get out of their cap hell without doing a complete rebuild. McCarthy will be fired and they will need to let the next coach figure out how to re-build.... which means that Jerry will instead give Dak all the money and tell the new coach to figure it out.

Jerry will promote Zimmer to HC in 2025, Zimmer will bring in one of his buddies to be OC (Turner or Kubiak) and a few others from the glory days. Or ZImmer stays as DC and they bring in Kellen Moore to be HC. And they will sign Dak to a 4 year $240 million deal with $220 million guaranteed.

Zimmer is the only thing I'm remotely interested in or excited about this year. He has a proven track record of shutting down or at least slowing down the type of offense that destroyed Quinn time after time after time.

Quinn stood no chance against GB, San Francisco, and buffalo's offense. I think Zimmer can do better.

And yeah…..Mazi smith looks like another Michigan bust to go along with schoonmaker and taco.

Dang... I had already forgotten about Schoon also being a Michigan guy. Friggin A... make it stop.

I do have some hope with Zimmer. But..... From what little I've read/heard regarding camp, the interior of our D is getting shredded once again. Doesn't matter what we do or who we draft, our DTs not being anchors is a problem that hasn't been fixed going on around 6-8 seasons now.

It's ok, it's ok, the Cowboys just picked up two DEs. Both have been suspended at some time and one of their names is Al Keada or something…here we go…
