Ball goes back to where it was fumbled. That's the rule when the ball is fumbled forward any other place in the field.

Players just need to learn not to extend the ball out like that one. Just asking for a fumble.

I attended the '92 Cotton Bowl... aTm vs FSU.

Sitting high on the second deck... watching what I thought was an A&M touchdown... turned out it was a fumble through the end zone... touchback, FSU's ball.

I did not know about that rule and people sitting around me were clueless too... went from what we thought was an A&M TD to FSU's ball.

FSU got the ball on the 1 yard line and Quentin Coryatt sacked Casey Weldon for a safety on the next play.

So apparently the rule has changed at some point.

No ***** But this rule is talking about when you fumble out of the end zone... not when it is fumbled and then clearly recovered.
