If you're going to claim the Cowboys are America's team because of tv ratings, you need to subtract in- state viewership for each team.

Other NFL teams appreciate very much what Dallas brings to the TV ratings. It is the biggest boost to revenue sharing - people chearing for and against Dallas all over America.

As far as Longhorns go, we have to appreciate that a Longhorn built the Dallas Cowboys into America's Team by being not only an amazing coach but also an amazing human being.

Houston needs to do all it can to continue to try to lure the Coyotes in from Arizona. The NHL doesn't want to abandon the market and is suspect as to whether Texas can support two hockey teams since Dallas is essentially a medium market. But, Arizona has proven that it doesn't support an NHL team much more than Atlanta. Fertitta may could get X number of up-front sponsors because the business sponsors and boxes are the two keys to a franchise's survival and why Atlanta always tanked.

No NFC Championship games for the Cowboys since 1995 season shows how incompetent Jerry Jones is as a general manager. Incompetent isn't even a strong enough word. Abysmal.

I haven't seen either team win. Doesn't change the fact that Dallas has won and Houston hasn't.

I'm a cowboys fan. I have more confidence that the Texans win a title first. It makes me sick. Jerruh is. Just terrible. No reason for the cowboys to lose to the packers last week. But they managed to. Stupid leadership and stupid owner. So GO LIONS !

I watched the 1966 NFL Championship game against the Packers as well as the 5 SB championships. I can't think of anything more meaningless than counting championships against Houston when Dallas hasn't won since I was in my 30's.

So none of Notre Dame's national championships matter since they haven't won one since 1988? We are even with them?

Of course they matter less as they age, but the Rangers didn't become the Yankees by winning the most recent title.

So, if the championships are old, they don't count? Got it. By that standard, I guess we can't claim our 3 natty's. I do know that I did not see, nor was I alive, when those claimed titles occurred. I have, however, watched every single Cowboy Super Bowl appearance, won or lost, and I still take pride in those moments. I was always an Oilers fan, too. Texans have been a weird addition to the Texas scene. Kind of like they don't really belong. A lot like sips in the SEC, I guess.

- a team with more t-shirt fans than those actually associated with the school (or city)
- the most entitled team in their sport, despite not doing much of anything in 20+ years
- a fan base that looks down their noses at others despite the above
- a team more concerned with image than performance

The team I am describing is the dallas longhorns!

Ahh OP tries to make himself feel better about the disaster going on in Arlington by trolling a team that went farther and has more playoff wins than the Cowboys since they were created.

Pretty sad, but best of luck to you in the future, you're going to need it.

Just some friendly interstate ribbing until baseball season. Wish yall had a hockey team. Coyotes should move to Houston but NHL is stubborn about Arizona.
I'm a Texan fan and I thought your post was clever and funny.

I grew up hating the Cowboys as an Oiler fan but now pull for the Cowboys. This almost 25 year Cowboy drought has been amazing and inexplicable really.

Not inexplicable at all. They have the worst ownership and executive leadership in American sports. They will never win again as long as anyone named Jones is associated with them.

This thread would suggest that being a Cowboys fan and being a Texans fan are mutually exclusive.

Nothing could be further from the truth. I have been a Cowboys fan since Eddie LeBaron(sp) was their midget quarterback. I was also an Oilers fan from the getgo, in spite of Bud Adams. I have been a Texans fan from day one. Even when the Houston team plays the Dallas team, I experience no conflict. No matter who wins, I win.

Are people so blindly opinionated they are unable to support both great Texas teams, even when/if they end up playing against each other in the Super Bowl? I can imagine nothing that would be sweeter and I would really enjoy the heartburn it would bring to all pro football fans outside of Texas.

Unfortunately, it will never happen because the NFL, thru the actions of its officials, will always preclude it. Two teams within the same state playing for all the marbles is suicide for the league/media finances, so can't be allowed.

I also believe the SEC will go to any extreme to prevent an Alabama/Auburn, Texas A&M/Texas, or any other instate matchup in a conference final for the same reason. Follow the money!

//Jerry Jones is a product of Arkansas sports management. Results don't lie, hired his son to manage, but can't keep his hands out of player/personel management. Looking back, does he regret the 1989 firings of Tex Schramm and coach Tom Landry or 1994 release of coach Jerry Johnson or 1998 release coach Barry Switzer. Afterall, these are the SWC era folks responsible for winning it.//just my thoughts//
