I wanted to start a seperate thread on this and get some folks input.

First, I love Dan Campbell as much as anyone here, but I thought he had a really rough night. Regardless how you feel about the ref 'mistake' going for it again from the 7 seemed like a huge mistake, to me. It seemed like Detroit had momentum at that point in the contest.

But that wasn't really what I wanted to get a discussion going about.

As for the play, it seems pretty clear that Allen made a mistake, but I also think shared blame is something that exists in the real world. I think Campbell and the Lions have to share at least some blame for creating an admittedly confusing scenario in an attempt to confuse the defense. Keeping in mind, the NFL already gives the offense huge advantages.

I have a bit of an uneasy feeling about this type of play. YEah, I know deception is a part of all sports at all levels, but there seems to be something extra deceptive and almost dishonest to me about the way Detroit went about this play, and again, their aim to create confusion on the rule BEFORE the play starts to gain an advantage. It just seems really diff to me that when you normally try to gain an advantage by play action or the other dozens of 'deceptions' that go on during the course of a normal game.

Maybe I'm not articulating it as well as I could but would love some feedback on this.

Specifically, I'm not saying a tackle eligible play is bad, per se, just the mechanics of how Detroit went about it with the intent to create as much confusion as they could.

Perfect analysis of the fake outrage of the last play.
