This started in in the late 70's when they began frigging with the rules, starting with the block in the back nonsense, then it snowballled from there. The game itself reached its peak in the early to mid 70's, when every aspect came together in perfect harmony.
It's garbage now (and is only going to get worse, if rumors coming from the league office are true).
