Currently a 2 keeper 10 team league with two new managers this year. How would you handle keepers?

What if we bumped it to a 12 team league with 1/3 of the entire league being brand new? How would you handle keepers?

New managers should pick keepers from the old managers rosters. If adding new teams all together then give them extra first round draft picks.

Agree with the above. And if you feel that bad about it, let the new guys have dibs on what draft position they want

1. existing owners have the option of trading their entire team for one of the teams of the owners that left
2. hold a supplemental draft before the main draft with the new owners, where they pick their keepers from the teams that left and any non-rookie free agents
3. hold the regular draft

The plot thickens! This is a couple's money league and my wife and I would be the new managers.

I noticed the team belonging to the commissioner had both Justin Jefferson and Stefon Diggs as his keepers. JJ would cost him a 13th rounder, and Diggs a 10th. So then I dug deeper into the history of the league to see how that was possible. The league was a standard non-keeper league through the 2020 season. In December 2020, right after Justin Jefferson's rookie year when he was picked up via waiver wire by the commissioner, the commissioner polls the league looking to convert to a keeper league. The league votes yes in a split decision. Then the keeper rules are set by the commissioner so that a waiver wire add cost you a last round pick the next year. So I think its a fairly good chance, the commissioner recognized the advantage he'd have going forward and took the opportunity to stack the deck. The 2021 draft was not a fresh draft knowing keepers would be in effect the next year. They went straight from a regular league to a draft including their keepers from the regular league year prior. When I asked to refresh keepers with a new fresh draft, I was quickly denied. The only "allowance" we are being given is to pick two keepers from the castaways of all the other teams.

That's shady. I'd send this to the commissioner and bow out of the league.

Disregard my previous post. Any league that doesn't do a fresh draft knowing keepers are in play isn't worth wasting your time for.

I agree...we backed out of the league. Their keepers were also drafted when it was a 10 team league so the talent was more concentrated. Now moving to a 12 team league and there was ZERO effort to even out the playing field. We are friends with these people too so it really sucks to see this kind of shady crap.

Their excuse was "this is just a fun league, no pressure, suck it up rookie"

These 2 points don't add up.

Steer well clear of this league (glad to see you backed out). That's a shame to see from friends.

Ostensibly, without a cap on how many years a player can be kept, this numbskull could keep Diggs and Jefferson in late rounds for the entirety of their elite career years. That's a sham.
