So, I found this fascinating. Quite interesting that Matt Ryan and Dak both had Dan Quinn defenses.




Essentially what this is telling me is that Dak's defenses fail him in the playoffs.

Not meant to absolve Dak but remember that GB scores 6 TDs in their first 7 possessions. If Dak is firing in all cylinders, they may still lose that game.

I also think something needs to be said about play sequencing. Once again, it appeared Dallas went into a game offensively wanting to "establish the run". While Dak was great in the regular season on 3rd down, those things just get harder in the playoffs. You can't continue to ask Dak to bail you out in 3rd and medium and long and not expect that to catch up.

There's got to be some hard discussions this offseason.

There's nothing for them to say at the moment. I'm sure they're making calls and talking to Vrabel, BB, maybe Harbaugh and deciding if they can get one of them or do they stick with MM 1 more year.

Agree here. I would imagine that they are talking with all sorts of people just to see if they can get interviews with guys, because if you can't even get interviews with guys you want, there's no point in firing McCarthy.

Yeah, I can't get past the fact that Dak just can't handle the pressure. Plenty of people are like that. They do fine in routine situations but collapse when the heat is on. Dak has been pretty upfront about his mental health issues, but maybe he just can't hold up to that sort of spotlight. That piece by Sturm was damning. In the first half, Dak would force short plays when the longer play was wide open. He was playing timid as opposed to the aggressiveness he had all year long. Then the game is pretty much lost by halftime, and after that the pressure is completely off. Now he goes and balls out of 300 yards and a few TDs in the second half, looking like his top form all year. Call it choking, call it the yips, call it buckling under pressure, but I don't see any other way to explain it. And I don't see how you can expect to go forward and be successful as a team if your QB has this problem.

It's all related. Dak wasn't good early. Green Bay jumped on our defense and you have to believe that free's up the GB defense to play super aggressively. Dak didn't have any open guys, he was off a little and that's a recipe getting your butt kicked. It's a total team fail starting with the coaching staff. The game plan all around was exposed.

Yeah, I haven't heard anybody talking about this, but in his postgame remarks, Dak said something like "My mind was going faster than my body". That's the definition of choking. He choked and he admitted it. Shouldn't be having that problem as long as he's been in the league.

Great comments most are very true, but they all point to the same thing: A cultural atmosphere fomented from the top down. This team is simply all about Jerry jones and Jerry jones doing things his way. No GM and a head coach that he can control. Jerry wants to have his signature on everything he does (well, he does and it's not working is it?)

Until he stands behind his team instead of in front of this team, this is what you get. No other programs are like Jerry's cowboys.

I am going to have to disagree with this a little bit. Are the Cowboys Jerry Jones' team? Yes, absolutely and he wants it known that way, but, I don't think coaches are powerless beneath him. By all reports, it was largely McCarthy's idea that they needed to let Kellen Moore go and needed to change the offense, and he did exactly that. Dan Quinn was also a huge piece in ID'ing defensive players over the past few years, and was given free reign over that side of the ball. This was Mike's team, and then Dan Quinn's; and although Jerry does want to be the center of the football universe, I think he has largely given his coaches plenty of latitude.

Someone mentioned it earlier, but the single biggest issue for Jerry is that he's too loyal to his guys, with Dak Prescott and Zeke being the poster boys for that sentiment.

Agree with this. I'd rather them spend money in FA on a veteran presence, especially from the comms perspective, than plugging this whole in the draft.

You have no idea what you are talking about. He wore burnt orange in college so you don't want him. Grow up. He would be a steal at the end of the first but I doubt they will take another d lineman two years in a row.

hah ok.

He's a 370LB DT that can't play more than 2 plays in a row. He also went up against sub-par competition and has 1 season of good stats.

A STEAL in the first? ok.

You don't use first rounders on situational talent.

It's been plain to see for years, but no one wants to believe it because finding a QB is really hard.

The moment has always been too big for him and there is an 8-9 year career worth of examples to show it.

Sean Lee is what our defense is missing. If he was healthy he was dominating the game. He elevated the defense multiple levels every time he was on the field.

Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw are the reason the SF defense is what it is. Roquan Smith elevated the Ravens the moment he took the field for them.

We desperately need to find another linebacker that can make plays. There's been a number of us saying that all year long, but it's not really the cowboys fault they don't have one. They drafted Micah Parsons. I don't even know if it was fully the Cowboys decision to move him to rush end. He had 13 sacks and I'm betting he's thinking "I'll make 2x the money as a pass rusher than I will as a MLB"

Yeah, I'm always hesitant of guys like that. There have been a lot of dudes who owe their success/careers because of the guy they played with.

Daeshon Hall got drafted in the 3rd round because he played opposite of Myles Garrett and never did jack s*** in the NFL.

Bobby Wagner is who we need if we want a short term fix. Go get that monster and our whole defensive IQ goes up 20 points.

Not sure we have cap room for anyone tbh. We need to knock this draft out of the park.

I was looking up some grades this year and Wagner still graded out pretty well this year esp against the run. He's getting to be a bit of a liability in coverage, but he would be fine for a one year deal.

I think if you are looking at the draft, Trotter is probably the best pure MLB. I love Cooper but I think he and Overshown are kinda close to the same type of player.

I started going to Cowboys games 60 years ago. I wouldn't put in a nickel if you got up an investment group so you go right ahead. I was just pointing out they're very unlikely to ever win again since Jones won't sell. Whatever the longest streak in American sports history without a championship will belong to the Cowboys one day.

Is there any talk in DFW of a big fight between Dak and Lamb pregame? I've now seen 2 blurbs online implying something happened.

If this is indeed the case, it would be the 2nd time Dak got into a situation with a team WR (Amari Cooper).

Something was definitely weird between them. They were arguing and bickering from the start. Maybe that was just Dak freaking out in big moments like he always does and overreacting. But I remember thinking "calm down guys, it's one pass, one drive, not that big of deal" at the beginning of the game. And it never really got better from there.

So Dan Quinn is 0-6 against his 2016 offensive coaching staff in Atlanta; Shanahan, LaFluer and McDaniels lol.

I'm going to be livid if he's brought back.
