Man, I'm glad we got Steele extended but I can't help but think that for a guy that isn't elite and is also coming off a serious injury, that sure seems like an overpay.

He might be one of those OL that stays at the top of his game for another decade.
I thought he was going to be one of the guys you had to let go for cap reasons.
Evidently, he's a great teammate and leader. Got to find a way to keep those guys on your team.

At a guess they feel OK about it because they are about to be free of Tyron's deal and they still have this year + 3 more of control over Tyler Smith. And some think that Martin might retire after this current contract (2 more years I think).

You cannot build an entire O-line through free agency (at least not efficiently). This move will help keep our line intact for the immediate future and we can figure out how to fill voids if/when some of our vets hang 'em up.

It's around 13-15th in the league for tackles, and every year that price goes up. So it's probably closer to an average starting tackle price if everyone signed a new deal now. He seems to be back and in full gear, so not worried about the knee.

Apparently Tyler Smith got dinged up at practice today. Said he walked off on his own power but something to watch for as we get later in the week.

Steele would be scooped up by another team if he was available. Good lineman are in short supply. Lock him up and hope he doesn't suffer a drop off like what happened to Travis Frederick. Frederick was dominant before he got sick and turned into garbage afterwards.

That's a decent price for a legit starting tackle.

Younger OL smith has a hamstring strain. Can't afford injuries to the OL damnit.

No we can't. Paper thin across the line. Should be pretty damn good if they all stay healthy all year. If not, it could go from great to non-functional pretty quick.

Yep, O-line depth is our weakest link IMO. Would be unfortunate if we can't even roll into week 1 without our weak spot being exposed... here's hoping he'll be good to go on Sunday!

Spicy take, but I thought Mahomes was pretty bad last night. His receivers weren't good either, but Mahomes missed the mark time and time again, which only made it harder on his receivers.

I agree, that last pass to Toney should have been caught, but he still threw it pretty far behind him.
