Looking at the details it looks like it was hard fought for the compensation

Jets get Rodgers, 15th pick in this years draft, and a 5th this year

Packers get 13th pick in this years draft, 2nd round pick, 6th round pick, and a 2nd next year that can become a first if Rodgers plays 65% of the snaps this year

Basically traded Rogers for a 2nd and a conditional 2nd next year? Swapped firsts and traded a 5th for a 6th, but that is negligible

I missed the part about the Packers giving up their first in the deal when I first read it and was like, damn the Jets got fleeced.

Dumb. Look at the QBs by division

Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Tua, Watson, Herbert
Hurts, Dak, Cousins, Murray.

Jets likely won't win their division and would shock me if they won the #1 seed. So unless they luck into AFC South division winner they will play either Bengals, Chiefs or Bills in round 1. Good luck.

I kinda see your point, but what should they do? Wait until Mahomes/Allen/Burrow retire? They have a great roster and Rodgers can still play. You have to take a chance sometimes.

Two best QBs in Jets history: Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre.

I think as football fans, the one thing we can all agree upon is that Aaron Rodgers is going to bang Zach Wilson's mom.

That's a lot of draft capital for a 39 year old QB who some call a drama queen. This could backfire horribly for the Jets.

I think the Jets should have looked at 49ers and said that is our model. Or maybe even Phil/Dolphins offense. You don't need a great QB you just need great skill players and the right style of offense.

The biggest problem I see is Rodgers offensive system is not compatible with modern offense of elite teams. Not to mention he doesn't have a Chase, Kelce, Diggs, type playmaker. Maybe Garrett Wilson can be that guy but that is hard to say.

Aaron Rodgers represents an astronomical upgrade over Zach Wilson and Mike White. He will be playing in the same division as Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen and Miami Dolphis Tagovailoa. This will be the most stacked division of great quarterbacks. Of course, the AFC North is stacked with Cincinnati Bengals' Joe Burrow, Baltimore Ravens' Lamar Jackson, and Cleveland Browns' Deshaun Watson, but that by no means is a guarantee.

Nevertheless, the New York Jets are playing a steep price to acquire a player with a massive contract, coming off a down season, and may end up only a rental. Aaron Rodgers has mulled retirement for a few years, but after coming out of the darkness retreat, he met with the Jets and planned to play for them in 2023. The Green Bay Packers will move on with 2020 first round pick Jordan Love.

Yeah i've heard some of the same general talking points on various sports talk shows and a common theme is the price for Rodgers is so steep because he could play 65+% of games this year, still retire and the Jets would have to give up next year's 1, or he could get injured/retire and they give up a 2nd next year.

I guess, but if I'm a betting man Rodgers is motivated and rejuvenated with his new team and he made the decision to want to be traded with more than 1 year left in mind. Doubt he'd trot out once with a new team and call it. He'll want to prove a point.

I think both teams win. And Rodgers wins.

The Jets whiffed on Wilson and Darnold b/c they drafted very young players with lousy coaches

you gotta shoot your shot and a QB room with Rogers and Wilson is prob the best in the NFL

All the Cowboys needed to do was jigger their W-L so that the Packers ended up playing SF. I think the last time GB beat SF in the playoffs, Jeff Garcia was SF's QB and Rodgers was still at Cal.

I'm so excited that we'll get to see both New York football teams regularly in prime time games.

Perhaps on Sunday evening we'll get the Giants losing to the Eagles in disappointing fashion, followed by a Monday night Pats at Jets feature.
Repeated multiple times.

Pre-Joe Namath, they had qb Dick Wood who had his ups and downs, but couldn't rise to the occasion.
The owner was ready to pay another qb a lot of money, but Wood's replacement went limp.

So the story of signing Joe Namath is quite an interesting story as part of the NFL v AFL storyline:

Currently, Rodgers is owed $1.2 million in 2023 as part of his restructured deal in GB. Jets now inherit this, so great news for 2023.

HOWEVER….

In 2024, his salary is $107.55 million in total compensation and a $71.25 million cap hit. Jets are already looking to restructure the deal.

Poor Jets' fans. All jacked about an over the hill Prima Donna who hasn't won the big game since 2011.

It's like a college hiring a new football coach who has won 1 national championship but the fan base thinks it will happen because their place is better.

Oh, wait......

Best QB room in the NFL? Seriously? A 39 year old who has been leaking oil and a qb that hasn't peed a drop in 2 nfl seasons and appears to be a Mitch Trubisky style bust.

More importantly, what about my man Flash Gordon? Saving the world from Ming the Merciless should count for something!
