Even with all the protection that the NFL has provided the QB over the past decade, run first QBs are going to get hurt. Why would anyone ever want to give Lamar Jackson $40 million a year guaranteed for Five years? I might give him $5 guaranteed a year with incentives to get to $50, but you simply can't pay guys that kind of money when they are going to be so susceptible to injury.

All of this. If the Ravens don't pay Lamar, someone else will. He didn't even get hurt running, he took a sack. Risk/reward

One of the more interesting stats I saw regarding Murray specifically was the Cardinals win % in the first half of the season vs the second half of the season. It's a huge drop off. I don't know if it's from other teams having more film to study, or Murray getting banged up and slowing down, or a combination.

The thing that always pops into my head, does nobody teach these QBs how to slide? (Murray especially should know how, since he was also drafted in baseball.) I remember Steve Young, back in the day, would almost always slide at the end of a run.

It actually struck me the last Chiefs game I saw, because it seemed like every time Mahomes ran, he either slid or went out of bounds. He wasn't taking hits.

Kyler has always been pretty good about sliding and not taking hits in the open field, no? This was a non-contact injury.

It's okay if a RB damn near yanks a DBs head off, but QBs are going to become untouchable. Might as well put a special "no touchy" jersey on them.

Hopkins, Conner, and Zach Ertz plus Hollywood Brown

Weather and game film start to tighten up on running QBs

Lamar was awful in the playoffs as he can't throw anything but basic throws

Kyler isn't really a running QB he is just tiny and has world class speed

He can make all the throws unlike Lamar

Having a QB that can get some yards with his legs is great, but the job of a QB always has been and always will be to deliver the ball on time and accurately. You have to be able to make big plays in the passing game to win consistently in the NFL. Having some mobility is gravy, but depending on a QBs legs is fleeting.

If you think Kyler doesn't know how to slide, you haven't watched much of his games….college or pro
