I agree, but I think it's both complex numbers and probably complex verbiage. I can imagine that without an agent you want the contract to have very simplistic in the way terms are worded, and most teams want as much flexibility as they can get. That mixed in with what seems like Lamar taking it personal that the team doesn't "value" him at what he thinks his "value" is he is probably missing that the team offered him what he wanted but not in the way he wanted.

For some reason, this reminds me of people who are too proud of their homes and are trying to sell it to only the highest bid price, not paying attention to cash vs loan, out clauses, or reduced agent fees. They don't realize that sometimes a lower priced bid might end up making them more money, all because they are personally affronted that you don't value the home the same way they do. I'm sure there are other examples, but it hardly ever pays to make things personal in a business dealing.

It's a shame he signed. I'm going to miss the smoking hot takes from Lake08 and W.
