With the Arizona Cardinals 25-22 upset over the Dallas Cowboys on the road and the Green Bay Packers 37-10 rout of the Minnesota Vikings, the Packers clinched the NFC No. 1 seed for the 2nd year in a row.

With a win at the Houston Texans, the Tennessee Titans will clinch the AFC No. 1 seed.

Two of the Titans 5 losses have been to the Jets and Texans.
It would be such a Houston Oilers move to have the Texans beat the Titans in the last week, damaging the Titans chances to host throughout the playoffs, and hurting the Texans draft position.

Good call. Did the wrong math/seeding.

Unless the 6 and 7 seeds both win the first round. Then they'd get another home game.

As much as I hope Bud Adams is burning in hell, a Titans-Chiefs Super Bowl with a full-strength Derrick Henry sounds fantastic.

The Titans and Chiefs both play in the AFC. So you must have meant a Chiefs vs Titans AFC Championship Game.

He either meant Titans vs Chiefs AFC Championship Game or Titans vs Packers Super Bowl.

Or maybe Titans vs Cowboys, the team that ran the Dallas Texans (aka Chiefs) out of town

Wow - this Chargers - Raiders game; these two teams are playing maybe the best game of the regular season (that I've seen) last, especially considering the winner is in and loser goes home.

IF a tie happens, both the Chargers and Raiders make the playoffs, and the Steelers are eliminated.

The only thing that could make this outcome better would be for the Steelers to somehow knock out the Raiders in the playoffs.

I really think the Raiders did what they should have. Yeah, they could have taken a knee and they'd have gone to the playoffs along with the Chargers, but imagine if you're a Raiders fan in the stands of that game. You paid with the high hopes of seeing a win and the players probably also wanted to go in riding a big win.

Other than a tie, this was the craziest ending to an NFL regular season that anyone could have imagined: a touchdown and tying extra point with no time left in regulation and both teams trading field goals in overtime before a last-second game winning-field goal. After the Las Vegas Raiders led the Los Angeles Chargers 29-14 with 8:29 left, the Chargers scored 15 unanswered points to tie the game at 29-29 with no time left in regulation. After both teams traded field goals, the Raiders kicked a last-second game-winning 47-yardfield goal to win 35-32 in overtime and finish 10-7.

As a result, the Raiders punched a playoff ticket as the No. 5 seed to Cincinnati and eliminated the Los Angeles Chargers. Also, the Raiders helped the Pittsburgh Steelers to clinch the No. 7 seed. A tie would have sent both the Chargers and Raiders to the playoffs and eliminated the Steelers.

As a die hard 49ers fan, I will be looking forward to watching this game. This will be the first playoff meeting between the 49ers and Cowboys since the 49ers defeated the Cowboys 38-28 in the 1994 NFC Championship Game on 1/15/95. Go 49ers!

I'm a diehard Cowboys fan, and I think the 49ers have a fantastic shot at winning this game. The Cowboys are only 6-5 against non NFC East teams, so I see this as a very short lived playoff run, yet again.

Thought this could use its own thread heading down the stretch.

Matchups are update as of 12/17/21 on NFL.com
https://www.nfl.com/standings/playoff-picture

Current projections are:

AFC
#1 Kansas City (10-4) - bye

#7 Buffalo (7-6) @ #2 New England (9-4)
#6 Indianapolis (7-6) @ #3 Tennessee (9-4)
#5 LA Chargers (8-6) @ #4 Baltimore (8-5)

Browns, Bengals, and Broncos also 7-6 but Buffalo and Indy have the tie-breakers presently.
Pittsburgh hanging on at 6-6-1.

NFC
#1 Green Bay (10-3) - bye
#7 Washington (6-7) @ #2 Tampa Bay (10-3)
#6 San Francisco (7-6) @ #3 Arizona (10-3)
#5 LA Rams (9-4) @ #4 Dallas (9-4)

Vikings, Eagles, Falcons, Saints all 6-7 as well, but Washington has the tie-breaker right now.

Assuming no first-round upsets, the divisional round in the NFC should be marvelous.
Crazy how much things change from OP. Doesn't even look like the same bracket.

Could you blame them for taking a knee though? They had their ticket punched, while unlikely, you could have had a Melvin Gordon vs. the Chiefs and been knocked out.

I like that there is a MNF playoff game this year, but I wonder how much that puts the winner of the Rams v Cardinals at a disadvantage to a resting Packers team

I really dislike this factor of the MNF playoff game. But I also don't like the 7 game playoff either.

I appreciate a reasonable and unbiased prediction of this game from a Cowboys fan. It will probably be a close game that will come down to turnover margin. I would like for the 49ers to win a road playoff game in Dallas, but I won't be surprised if the opportunistic Cowboys defense forces Jimmy Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers into 2 or more turnovers. Even if the 49ers win this game, they will have to play a well-rested Green Bay Packers team in a very tough environment.

The Cowboys actually finished with the best conference record at 10-2, which is one game better than the Packers' 9-3 conference record. Of course, the Packers rested their starters in a 37-30 loss at the Detroit Lions. Outside of a 6-0 NFC East record, the Cowboys went 4-2 in games against NFC teams, but their 2-3 record against AFC teams prevented them from getting at least the No. 2 seed. The Cowboys defeated the New England Patriots 35-29 in overtime on the road on 10/17, but they went 1-3 against AFC West teams, including home losses to the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders.

I love highlights on these old videos. I find the end zone shots with the fans right there, but not on the field, so funny.
