He is one of the Pardon My Take hosts, its a really funny podcast. I know they have had Eli on before, I thought they had had Peyton but maybe not.
I ESPN reconsiders taking a 3 week break, unless that was something the Mannings asked for.

yeah i think that was something peyton and eli wanted. pretty sure its 10 games per season for 3 seasons. i sincerely doubt the Mannings asked to do all 17 and ESPN said, nah, we're good.PatAg said:

This is what I assumed. It's the perfect setup for them. Not an every week commitment and they can do it from home. They can dabble in broadcasting and make a nice payday, but not be stuck with being in a broadcast booth or at a studio desk every week

and i believe its 100% their production team so they have a lot of creative control which has to be enticing. i hope they dont actually listen to some of that criticism he read thru during last nights telecast. for example, some fan tweeted they need to dumb down the lingo for the average fan....and i wanted to scream " ****. NO!" thats part of what makes it so enjoyable to me. even the little bits i dont quite understand. i love that they dont dumb it down. and the times they point something out that you cant see or dont notice, gives you a whole new appreciation for the game.DannyDuberstein said:

Agree with above. More former and current football players and coaches and less non. Maybe balance it out with two defensive players/coaches for analysis.

I'm fine with the amount of guests at 1 per quarter, but i would love it if they limited it to current and former players and coaches only (although i get they are trying to give at least a little appeal to the more casual viewer). Barkley was entertaining, and lebron was fine. Not really bad just "meh"....so in retrospect, out of 12 guests, they have only had 2 non-player/coach guests. like others here, i just really enjoy when the mannings get to talk shop with other players/coaches, especially ones they played with/against. Gives us a some deeper analysis, sprinkled in with a little bit of **** talk and some anecdotes. its a great mix.
Saban wasn't a great guest. The Eli double bird had me laughing out loud. The Manningcast has just gotten better each week.

yeah he was really dry and boring. which shouldnt come as a shock. I know they likely wouldnt be able to do it until he retired, but i think Belichick would be fantastic. his interviews are bad i know, but when he gets to nerd out on football, he is actually really enjoyable. and obviously super knowledgeabledmart90 said:

Saban is dry, but across the guests, I've got to hand it to Peyton (and maybe whatever staff) for asking some decent questions vs run-of-the-mill crap. For instance, I thought the question to Saban about whether when he was a DC he preferred to be on the field vs the booth ended up providing some cool insight into Saban's history with Belichick, both of their philosophies, and just logistically the difficulty.
That's just one example, but I keep finding myself interested in what he's asking.
