I think it is safe to say that the Patriots are back

All the talking heads that thought they had gotten too old to be serious contenders seem to be wrong. They are laying the wood on a pretty dang good Chicago team at Soldier's Field. Beat the 9-3 Jets 45-3 last week. Blew out Pitt

Brady's having his 2nd best statistical season by a pretty wide margin and the Green-Woodhead combo is somehow getting it done in the running game.

I'm thinking that they and the Falcons are the Super Bowl favorites right now, but I also think the Pats have played a harder schedule and have the more impressive resume.

The 'old' thing is wrong. They do have a few key veterans, but especially on defense, they are much younger. In fact, their defense has been getting better as the year has gone on and is made up of a lot of recent draft picks.

They are gelling very well right now.

In their last 7 quarters (4th against Detroit through halftime of Chicago), the Patriots have outscored their opponents 99-3.

I dont see how anyone can beat them in NE during January. Brady plays great in terrible weather. If sanchez has to go there again, he will probably have 5 turnovers himself.

The falcons are indeed the favorite in the NFC right now. They're damn tough at home and only have one real chance at a loss over the next three weeks. Someone will have to win in Atlanta. Even if the Saints knock them off in two weeks, New Orleans has a tough game at Baltimore that is a potential loss.

I don't think Atlanta is the best team, but they're easily in the best shape.

yes, the Falcons are not the favorites in the NFC . . . wait, WTF?? Do you watch football? They are the clear favorites. They are young and have a clutch QB and a stout defense. They also don't lose at home. Period. If they are the top seed in the NFC, they are CLEAR favorites to make it to the Death Star for the SB in 2012.

After the ass beating they handed the Jets, I said that the Jets had to be overrated as I couldn't envision the Patriots being THAT much better than teams with similar records. Well I guess I need to rethink that!

They KILLED the Bears tonight! That game was over at halftime!

Steelers??

Brady is 6-1 against the Steelers, totally dominating them in all of their victories. His one loss to them was the first time he faced Roethlisberger, it was in Pitt, and later that same season Brady beat the Stelers in Pitt in the playofs on the way to a SB victory. Pats own the Steelers in Foxborough, never losing to them there with Brady at the helm.

The STeelers would have no chance, barring significant injury/ies to the Pats.

Once they got some youth on their defense and coached them up, they look good.

Best team in the NFL right now.

Who said the Patriots were too old? The biggest problem on their team was their defense was so young with rookies and second year players that they were very vunerable. Before the Jets game, they had a worse passing defense than the Texans and were bottom 5 in the league in scoring defense. They seem to be growing up fast, though.

They have definitely found their stride..........question is......can they keep it up?

I think they can, it's obvious they have found the switch.

Mike and Mike were talking today about how in the last 3 snow games have played in, the Pats outscored their opponents 109-0.

If Belichick ever becomes more likeable, he'll surpass Lombardi in greatness.
