The Rams should skip Bradford and go with Suh or McCoy, then grab Colt in the 2nd.

the worst case draft scenario for McCoy...he gets drafted by a team that actually needs him to play. He's a 4th round pick at best. But GM's get caught up in the hype and numbers like everybody else.

W I agree with you exactly. I cant believe the hype on this guy an Tebow. At best a fourth rounder. This is a guy who played with an athletic advantage evertime he took the field. Hes 6-1 and 215 at the combine which means he plays at 205. He barely had to show up in his games to win Drew Brees had to fight for his life every game he played at Purdue. I dont see it at all. The atm defense sent Freeman to the first round now it will probably send Colt as well.

hey now, the texas defense would like to take credit for getting Freeman into the first round as well.

I don't know that this is very much the case. it seems that teams pretty well realize that qb's production in college is only a small piece of the puzzle. look at guys like ken dorsey, jason white, etc. they put up big numbers in college, but teams realized they weren't pro qb's. teams do tend to have blind sides for qb's when it comes to measureables and other predictors, but college production doesn't seem to factor in very heavily.

i will say, this is probably the best year Colt could have come out, following Brees winning a super bowl. that said, Colt will need to get stronger and work on a number of parts of his game. I don't think he, Tebow or Clausen is ready to play in the NFL. But given a couple years, I think all COULD be good qb's, if they end up in the right system for their skills.

I can see 3 QBs going in the first round, Colt being one of them! Is he worth it... NO WAY!!! But the question being "best case scenario"... that's it... he can definitely go in the 1st because there are a good number of teams this year that will need him.

The main reason for this is the new draft structure. With the 2nd round being the next day, there are too many chances for teams to make deals overnight to move up into the early second to grab these "coveted" QBs... I think it very likely a team will trade up into the late part of round 1 and get a QB while they are still there.

It's a bad move, but I can see it happening.

well, and keep in mind, the teams at the bottom of the 1st round may be more willing to take a qb of the future if they feel good about the rest of their team (e.g. Min.).

I think Colt should be a 2nd-3rd rounder, but if a team likes him and he fits in their system, I wouldn't have a problem with him being taken there. But again, like Tebow, the expectation should not be that he's gonna come in and start right away (or even for a year or two). otherwise, that's just a waist of a 2nd rounder.
