Speculations wanted. Remember, no ideas in the NFL Draft are bad ideas (unless you are the Raiders).

The Cowboys Trade Up: Only if Earl Thomas or Dez Bryant fall far enough (assuming Eric Berry is long gone as expected). I cannot see the Cowboys moving up for any other player based on needs and who we all "think" are their top players on their board.

The Cowboys Trade Down: I see this as a real possibility any year, but if we see another coveted QB fall to the #27 pick I can think of several teams picking in the early 2nd that will be calling Jerry. It will cost them this years 2nd and next years 1st at the very least. This is probalby the best case scenario for Dallas unless one of the top rated safety, OT, or Dez Bryant falls in their lap. The Cowboys will be have two 2nd round picks to fill some gaps and 2 picks in round one next year!!!

The Cowboys stay still and draft at #27: You have to have a willing party to trade with and there is no guarantee the Cowboys will be able to move even if they want too. If they draft at #27, the most likely player left will be one of the top Guards. None of the "can't miss" tackles will be around and the top two Free Safeties are also gone. Seems like a safe pick, but don't count out a surprise pick of "best player available", even if that player is a CB or LB.

What the Cowboys won't do: Trade a player for picks on draft day. Jerry has stated many times that trading current players for picks is a bad investment. He doesn't believe in getting rid of somebody that you know what they can do for another player that you have no idea about.

Based on most of what I have heard and read, I think guys like Pouncey, Iupati and Bryant are long gone by 27. If that's the case, the only guy that I see that is may be worthy is Odrick, and I think he will be a solid player, but not spectacular.

I think if this plays out, I could very easily see JJ trade down. The big value in this draft is 2nd and 3rd round.

The best case scenario would be for Classen to slide (although I don't think he will fall that far) and would allow JJ to trade down and make a haul.

You might be right, but somebody has to fall. If some of the guards go a bit sooner than many mock drafts are projecting, which players then fall because of this? If more guards are taken early, then we will start seeing some of those LBs and DEs fall I guess.

I mean, we can always count on the Raiders to draft a 3rd/4th round prospect in the 1st round, so there is at least one extra guy that will fall to somebody!!!

Well, Gosslin on with Norm this morning says the 1st round will be big. In the sense that he sees OL, DL & LBers being the focus. I guess it's possible that one of the corners like McCorty maybe slipping, but CBs historically don't slide, especially since there's only 3 that seem to have 1st round grades.

It also depends on what you think is a slider. There's a decent chance that Mays will be there at 27 and his talent suggests that he's a good value there, but I don't think he's value there. I also don't think he fits into Wade's scheme. I see a guy like Allen or Burnett as a better fit at safety and I think they fit better in the top half of the 2nd.

My long winded answer is that if things fall the way most expect, I personally don't think there will be value there at 27. Maybe Odrick.

Also, there's lots of buzz that JJ has fallen in love with Dez. If he falls to 19 or 20, I think JJ tries like hell to make a deal.

if the Dolphins are willing to swap picks with the Cowboys and maybe a later round pick in next years draft, marion barber could be part of a trade up deal/package. dont discount that possibility.

I would love to send Barber and let Felix/Choice run the show

If the Cowboys want to trade up to 20 I'm sure that the Texans will be happy to accommodate

Don't discount McCourty. If Iupati and Pouncey are gone and Dez didn't fall as expected then McCourty would be a great catch at #27. He might be the #3 CB in this draft but he is the best special teams super star.

if McCourty is on the board, and the Cows stay at 27...theres a very decent chance McCourty has a star on his hat next year.

If a team gives up that much to move up about 10 spots, their GM should be fired.

In my opinion, the best logical scenarios would be (1) a 2nd and 3rd this year or (2) a 2nd this year and a 2nd next year.

Latest now is that Dallas has SF primed to try and move up to 13 and grab Earl Thomas.

That rumor has Dallas trading up 14 slots and giving up a 1,2 & 3. No way does Jerry do that.

I think that's too steep of a price.

If you could do your 1st, 3rd and the 2nd or 3rd next year, I think I might do that.
