Do any of you have issues with Miles Austin missing the voluntary training? The story on ESPN today is that it was not a conract issue and that he was just having "great workouts" in CA.

This kind of bothers me because there is NO way that he would have missed any opportunity prior to this season. That work ethic is what put him where he was last year. Don't think this is a big deal now, but I just think it sends a really bad message:

Guy comes out of no where after working his tail off, and immediately starts skipping voluntary workouts.

Just send the wrong message if you ask me. I don't think Romo should be having to call up his star reciever and begging him to come work with him at camp.

The Pro Bowl wide receiver has been at Valley Ranch this week, working out with teammates in the voluntary off-season conditioning program. Austin spent the last couple of weeks working out in California.

This stuff is always so hit or miss. Maybe there was an important family event going on, so he stayed in california for a week or so... all the while communicating with his teammates that he'd be there next week.

Who knows... who cares!

If they wanted him so bad, just call it "mandatory workouts" not voluntary. Dude missed voluntary workouts. No big deal.

One of those things you raise your eyebrow about but I don't think it in and of itself is a red flag.

I'm willing to bet Miles doesn't get any offers, much like he didn't last year with a much lower tender and much less compensatory pick strings attached.

Yes, they call it "voluntary" workouts, but, come on, everyone knows there is a lot more pressure to show up - especially when you are expecting to make a SB run that year.

My other take on the issue, if your QB is calling you begging to show up to get your work in together.... that is not good. (Especially a QB who always gets criticized for his lack of focus on football....)

I agree that it is not a major concern, but I do think that it is something to keep an eye on. Sometimes success does goto some people's head, hope this is not one of those cases.

M. Austin is currently just an "average" to "above average" WR ($'s wise)... do it again this year and my opinion will change.
