I work for a small somewhat niche GC/subcontractor in Houston - mostly underground pipe work, tunneling work, municipal water, sewer, potable water, etc.
We are looking to fill an opening in our estimating department for a project estimator. I understand that most people won't have the experience specifically in this industry since it is pretty unique, but similar experience is good for me.
We use HeavyBid as our estimating software, so experience with that program is a huge plus. We are a growing company and working on transitioning from high volume smaller projects to larger and more complex projects (CSP's, CMAR, etc. versus simple hard bid) but still do a decent amount of the smaller bid work and likely will for a while. This position would be more on the entry level side of things, but not exclusive to that level of experience either. Candidate needs to be willing to learn, not afraid to ask questions, not afraid to say they don't know something (hell, i still say that fairly regularly) and be able to produce good bids with guidance.
Pay is commensurate with experience, we have pretty solid benefits. Good overall group of folks so I'm looking for fit on personality and work ethic as much as I am anything else. I like to think I'm pretty good to work for - I'm definitely not a micromanager. Office is near Hobby, we have a few other perks here and there as well that could be offered to the right person.
