I am a young professional that has decided to leave teaching and coaching after five years. I was a student athlete at Texas A&M and majored in Sports Management and Business. I am looking to make a career change and do something different. I am looking for an opportunity in the Houston area. I was successful at my profession but just looking for a change for my family. I am eager to learn, people oriented/relationship builder, organized and reliable. I am open to opportunities and just looking for the right fit for me. Thank you in advance!

When I was in Houston, I used Primary Services to find a job. It was a staffing firm for temp jobs; they also did permanent placements.

I got a full time job through primary services back 25 years ago early in my career in HR at a major oil company. It was temp-to-hire.

I left teaching 2 years ago - now work at a major university. I'd check out the community colleges (HCC, San Jac, etc), as well as universities for coordinator-type positions (I run a testing center).

Also, I'd use you sports network (former people you played with in college) - reach out to them - they may have something for you, or at the very least, reach out to their networks as well.

Leaving teaching is difficult, but well worth it. Far less stress now.

#1 - Get on LinkedIn
#2 - Get on your AI app of choice (I like Gemini and ChatGPT...learning Claude), and put your resume/experience into it and ask it to build a resume for the role(s) you are looking for. If multiple types of roles, then you'll have multiple resumes (just don't get them mixed up when you apply). Keep prompting it as necessary. It'll keep refining.
#3 - Ask it to build out your "general" LinkedIn Profile. I haven't done this as I'm so far in my career, I only need the specific one I have, but may take a stab at it.
