Ranger Conveying & Supply LP is a family owned and operated company with headquarters in Houston, TX. We are currently looking for a structural engineer to join our engineering team. This position is based in our Houston, TX office.

Primary Purpose And Responsibilities
  • The Structural Engineer provides calculations, sketches, drawings, and models for structures related to complex bulk material handling conveyor systems. The Engineer must have extensive experience and work history in the field of bulk material handling conveying systems.
  • A majority of the time the Structural Engineer models, calculates, and draws various towers, trusses, and support frames as they relate to bulk material handling conveyor systems. The Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager. The Engineer is responsible for all facets of the Structural design required on project(s) assigned including but not limited to: design, schedule, code compliance, safety, and the estimated weight budget.
  • Responsible for satisfying all structural design requirements, operationally and structurally, as dictated by Ranger customers.
  • Reviews structural design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Evaluates and approves structural, design changes, specifications, and drawings to assure all work follows project requirements and that quality of the work is acceptable.
  • Controls structural weights to stay within the limitations of project budget.
  • Prepares field reports as required for retrofits, modifications, and as directed by the Manager of Engineering.
  • Responsible for communicating and informing Engineering Manager and/or the Project Manager on structural problems, project feasibility, cost, and code compliance.
  • Participates with Sales and Estimating in formulating goals and objectives for the Company.
  • Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), high degree of attention to details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules.
Education
  • BS in Engineering and minimum 3 years experience in conveyor design, or similar steel structures, and manufacturing.
Experience / Specific Knowledge & Skills
  • Skills required are but not limited to, design, detail, material take-offs, and ability to handle complex engineering/design calculations by hand or with the aid of computer software.
  • Knowledge and experience in computer usage including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as AISC, ASCE 7, API, ASTM, ASME, CEMA, AWS, and other practices required by federal and state requirements.
  • Extensive work with non-compact structural shapes, plate reinforcement, continuous span single angle trusses, and building design.
  • General understanding of bulk handling operations and equipment.
