Hello everyone,

I am wanting to start a new career path in medical device sales. My previous experience is 4 years in life insurance ( recruiting, training, and sales training as a supervisor) along with experience in the oil & gas industry as an account manager.

I'm looking for any advice or pointers on how to get my foot in the door. Any help of advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just to satisfy my own curiosity....I see more than a handful of people who seem to want to get into medical device sales specifically. Why is that? I use to work for a med device manufacturer, so tangentially familiar with the sales side of things. No direct experience. I don't understand the draw of medical device sales? But again....I have no direct experience in it.

As advice, maybe target the big companies who market to manufacturers or distributors? Like Medline, Cardinal Health, Halyard, Becton Dicksinon, etc. I always see lots of positions open for Medline.

Been in med device for about 10 years

Get online and apply, try to meet people and ask good questions

Without experience in the OR it will be more tough for you. Gotta find the right manager willing to hire someone with no experience

I have a friend who started but didn't finish college and is in medical device sales making bank. It is a bit scary to think that he is the one showing surgeons how the device works and how to "install" it.

What range - I see online anywhere from 185-220 on the high side? Just curious what people are banking.

I would say 180-350k depending on what role and pay structure

Never met a sales pro that wasn't focused on helping their Customers succeed.
In some cases, they even had an opportunity to present their product or service.

Sales is solving customers problems, not convincing them to buy something they don't need.

Yep, that's how you solve their problems. you can't provide solutions unless you know what their pain points are. You can't know without asking the right questions.
