I have a client who is looking to lift and shift their application to AWS and needs some assistance getting started. Unfortunately this isn't an extended opportunity, more like 4-8 weeks working with the client to get their cloud environment setup and get started on their migration.

This is a long shot to find a resource as nobody will leave a job such a short-term opportunity, but if you're a consultant with AWS experience who's not full time engaged at the moment this would be a nice gig. Client is in north Houston, would be a mix of onsite and work from home.

Tell them not to lift and shift. You miss out on all the benefits of being cloud native and often the total cost will be more without some re-architecting.

It is often times a better strategy to lift and shift to be operational in AWS and then modernize within AWS. Trying to migrate AND modernize can sometimes be risker. Yes, the short term cost savings might not be there until you modernize and then ultimately, optimize things.

Some modernizations are less risky, but without knowing more details here I wouldn't put an absolute "don't do this or that" into the equation yet.
