Through a series of espionage and lack of security. I found out I am making $50k less than the person I was hired to replace. Best course of action to reconcile this?

Let it go. Sounds like whatever you went through to find out can and will get you fired. Should have done that much research before taking the offer to negotiate better pay.
If that's what the market rate is, you can bring that up in evaluations and ask for compensation accordingly. But what the person who was there before you was making is pretty irrelevant. Lots of variables.

Did you have as much experience as the person you replaced?
This could be due to a combination of factors including experience, degrees, other duties prior individual performed, etc. Just because you were hired to fulfill a part of their role doesn't mean you have exactly equivalent skills.
Of course, they may have done research on comparables for the role and determined they were overpaying the prior individual. At the end of the day, you negotiated and accepted what you believed to be a fair salary package. If you want an increase, look forward on what you can do to bring value to the role and organization. Looking backwards at the prior individual won't likely have the desired outcome in the long run.

Whatever you do to try and right this "wrong," don't tell your boss "well, so and so was making X."
It's a very milquetoast way to approach a raise and demonstrates an inability to value your own work and contributions. There's a myriad of reasons why the numbers are different. You have to consider that people are often valued on the experience and skills they bring to a role...not that the role is valued at a certain comp level.
An example personally...There are thousands of CFOs more qualified than myself based on certain metrics but if a company is involved in a large construction lawsuit with an international company on a federal project - I may have something to add that those others may not and my involvement in that role comes at a premium versus those without the same experience.

Worry about your market value vs what others get paid. Seriously… you'll be a lot happier and it makes decision making around your own career so much easier.
What somebody used to make in your role is an indicator of your market value… but ultimately you accepting the role for $50k less is a direct observation.
If you are really worried you are underpaid, go find more direct evidence in the market that backs that up.

So a little devil's advocate here.
I'm pretty good at what I do. I am the top performer within my employers group (responsible for 46% of sales in North America and 76% of competitive deals in North America).
I know others in the industry value me a a different level than any of my 7 teammates. So IF I were to jump to a competitor, should my replacement be paid what I was paid? Realistically I make almost double what other teammates do, but my experience is more than all others on the team combined.
Work hard and prove your worth. If you don't like the comp package, look elsewhere and understand your value before agreeing to a comp package.

Odds are the other guy got let go because he was making too much.
He was let go due to inability to adapt to technology and was delegating everything to subordinates

He got to a point where he was overpaid and easily replaced with someone who could do the job for cheaper…

You and your predecessor are likely not an apples to apples comparison. Which explains the delta in salary.
The wise thing to do is to not make mention of it to anyone. When your review comes up you can mention why, based on your performance and productivity, an increase in salary is warranted.

elko should ask for a 30% increase in two years when we go 8-5
I suggest you keep things quiet. There could many factors, both connected to you and not. Maybe the other guy was more qualified. Even if you and he are the same, maybe the market has changed and your job commands less. Lots of things.
The job market is not good right now so no time to fight. Keep working hard and looking out for a new job which pays what you want.

Concentrate on adding value for your company and becoming irreplaceable. Do that and you'll be shocked at your progress within your company!
