Saying you're interested in Cyber is like saying you're interested in "IT". Networking? O365/Email? Cloud? Coding? Compliance? Educating others? Pretty much every facet of IT (and more) have a cyber component/specialty these days.

That said, I deal with almost everything in my role...jack of all trades and a master of none. Just sort of got promoted into it from my previous IT role. I learned pretty much everything on the job and mostly self-studied for certs. CompTIA Sec+ ain't bad, easy to self-study and it IMO does give a good broad overview. When I came in, passing that exam actually helped me a lot. After that, the path all depends on the route you want to go.

These days I manage a small team for a large company that pretty much handles all the day to day security operations. It's usually interesting. Often stressful. And I never feel like I know enough and don't think that will ever really change. Not many jobs put you up against motivated adversaries like cyber does.
