I recently retired from a 34 year career with The State of Texas and am looking to excel in a different field. Even before I retired I was interested in gaining new experiences investigating insurance claims for catastrophic events. I have worked to obtain Adjuster Licensing in Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, and Minnesota. I have also completed Tactical Xactimate training, but all of the mainstream recruiting sites want multiple years of experience.

Does anyone know an agency who will allow "ride along" or "internship" experiences?

I'm currently in Huntsville, TX, but am willing to commute reasonable distances.

You should look into some of the independent adjusting firms rather directly from an insurance company.

Cat Adjusting is a young man's game. Mostly climbing roofs for wind and hail claims if you are new. Tales of making $100k in 3 months are long gone. Very hard to get your foot in the door as a newbie unless 2-3 hurricanes strike in a row. Market is saturated with cheap labor that thinks $200-$400 per claim is good money.
