First - With 'FERPA' no one will tell you or her parents anything without a release being signed.

The University has procedures for issues like this.

The first steps usually begin with the advising office. If she was informed, she cannot graduate she can get a written explanation. Then she can appeal to the department head for an adjustment or waiver of the catalog/degree plan.

If the classes, she took directly relate to her degree and are upper 300/400 level courses there is a greater chance her request will be approved.

See Student Rule #14 (Google it) and the link below.

Viper slow down a little and don't come in so hot. If your niece is typical college age she is an adult and has been one for a while. Calling for the advisor to be fired….

I don't work in advising or the college but a separate system agency. I will teach an undergraduate course or two periodically. I also hire a lot of student workers. Here is what I have seen over the years.

There are some advisors that are not very good. For the most part they are. Also, undergraduate advising is mostly plug and play and everyone has a degree plan and the catalog outlines degree requirements

Thanks Chingo... probably the most sincere reply all day. I appreciate you. Thread title might have been a little hot, but I don't care. Firing is in the air, must have got the best of me!

I posted here because the other one got pulled. I did see the one in academics.

It's February so there is time. Tell her not to slack off thinking that there is no hope. Especially if she gets the waiver , she has to pass

Viper - there are several Aggie-owned custom builders in the areas north of San Antonio. G Morris, Brad Morris, and Williams-Hirsch come to mind. You may want to check with them. I wonder if there is a list in the Fromer Students directory?

Other thing you may want to check out is large construction inspection work. It seems like most of the big AEC firms are fighting over construction inspectors these days.
