Howdy Ags,
I have an opportunity to transition into another role in about two years time if I can get my CFP and I am seriously considering it. My background is engineering, so to my knowledge I cannot do the accelerated path and will have to take all of the required coursework, tests, and then gain experience before actual certification is issued.
I'd like to get in touch with any Ags that have gone through this process recently for advice / notes from their experience on how difficult / how long it took them. From what I can find online, part time course work will take between 10-18 months, then I'll have to study and pass a test, plus accumulate 3 years relevant work experience. Once I get through the classes, I can transition roles and start building that work history.
I'll have to take online classes on nights and weekends in order to pursue this. Which brings in another question, of which program to choose. A&M has an accredited program for the CFP, but it is in the Agricultural Economics school, which is interesting... Starting to request information from other programs now with the expectation to enroll in the Spring or Summer of next year.
Thanks and Gig 'Em!
